Is the hard drive GPT or MBR partitioned? If it is GPT partitioned, it will not boot on a legacy bios computer. Since you said the problematic computer came with Windows XP, I doubt if it is UEFI, but if it is UEFI, it will not boot from a hard drive that only has 1 NTFS partition. Also, some older processors only support 32-bit Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 so if it has one of those processors it needs to be 32-bit.

The normal clean install on a single hard drive will create a minimum of 2 partitions - one boot/recovery partition and the OS partition. You only have the one partition on the hard drive. That tells me that you did not install Windows 10 with that hard drive ONLY connected and with no partitions on it (unallocated space). If you did delete the partitions on the hard drive before installing Windows 10, then you probably clicked New to create a new single partition rather than clicking next and letting Windows 10 create partitions from the unallocated space.

So, once again, install Windows 10 by having ONLY the single hard drive connected. Select the custom install option. Delete all partitions on the hard drive so there is only one big unallocated space on it. Click next to install Windows 10 to the unallocated space.

Navy, I think you're on to something with the 32-bit architecture.

It is currently installing on unallocated space. I clicked format in the setup to format the drive and then I deleted the partition it formatted so it looks like the above picture. I will update you with information about the installation

  6. It has completed all the check marks on the installation and it keeps rebooting over and over

Is it rebooting back to the language page of the USB? If so, remove the USB and reboot.

  9. Thanks, one bit missing - 32-bit or 64-bit machine?
You should remove the Service tag in Other info in your specs. It does make it easier to get configuration information, but it should not be posted on a public forum.

The machine is quite old and the Pentium 4 CPU most likely does not have the feature set to run 64-bit windows.
There's only 1 GB of RAM

You might ... might be able to run 32-bit Win10 on the box.

About the Rebooting - what was the last screen you saw before it started cycling?

It might be trying to update software and drivers ...

Let it cycle for a while, and hour or two) then cold stop it by pressing and holding the power button.

remove the usb drive and start the machine.

Watch the monitor and try to figure out what it's doing.

  10. The system is a 32-bit and the disc is a windows 10 32-bit copy. the monitor changes to a shade of black or gray for a split second and the computer reboots. Would you like a photo of the Boot partition windows made? I think it might be missing a file.

  11. Yes, that might shed some light on the issue - thanks

  12. here is some images of partition contents (they don't show up in windows so I used a different bootable software):

    Oh, I misunderstood

I was expecting a disk layout similar to post# 7

I'm not sure what pgm you booted (Partition Explorer shows in the title) but if it has a graphical or list representation of the drive, that would be great.

before you take the picture, make sure the information is shown
    img1 - no headings
    img2 - disk 1 part ... cut off - can't tell what partition.

If that's Partition wizard - post the main page

    Windows 10 Installation Problem [IMG]

    maximize the window
shrink the left pane (Actions and Wizards - use the <<)
    grow the right pane (disks)
drag the column headings so information is not hidden
capacity, used, unused, and unused columns can be made smaller to show more of other columns

    thanks

  15. Thanks - that looks normal, except for only using 5.32 GB on partition 2. I use x64, which is usually around 9 GBs for a clean install. A x86 (32-bit) might be smaller - I'm not sure.

    A few other questions:
You have the Win10 install media on a disc - right?
When and how did you create that disc?

Which 32-bit edition are you trying to install, Home or Pro?
Here's the tutorial for Downloading the ISO
Read the colored boxes for important information

    Then follow this method:

You said that the machine was originally XP, was it upgraded to Win7 or Win8?
You have to upgrade a qualified OS (7 or 8) to Win10 first to get a Digital Entitlement for that machine. There is a way to collect the information on a running system (7 or 8) and then do the clean install, but you have a raw drive. You'd have to restore the previous OS (Win7 or Win8), collect the information, then do the Clean install.
Do you have a Retail license (FPP) for Win10?
This is the only path to install Win10 on a raw drive without a Digital Entitlement
I think you'll be able to use a good Win10 install disc to repair the system. Possibly ...

When I see your answers, I be able to give better advice.
