Windows 10: Windows 10 laptop shows only "Other User"

Discus and support Windows 10 laptop shows only "Other User" in User Accounts and Family Safety to solve the problem; So, I decided to reset my laptop entirely since I had plans to sell it but after I redownload Windows 10 the screen doesn't show up in HD, bootup takes...     Windows 10 laptop shows only "Other User"


    So, I decided to reset my laptop entirely since I had plans to sell it but after I redownload Windows 10 the screen doesn't show up in HD, bootup takes 30 minutes and the only account that shows up is "Other User" with a blank username and password field. I tried getting to the troubleshooting menu by restarting and holding the shift key but no luck, my fingers hurt. Anybody help ??

    Windows 10 "guest " login during startup.

    During startup when my desktop PC gets to the login page it displays a "guest" login box along with an error message " Guest user is not enabled, see system administrator'. This PC has Windows 10 , version 1703 installed. This problem just arose after
    the recent update ( 1703). I have 2 other laptops that run windows 10 version 1703 and they do not show this page, they show administrator login as always. When I check my user accounts on the desktop it only show the administrator account, and gives me the
    option to add accounts. My preference would be for only my administrator account to appear on the login page , just like my 2 laptops.

    Hello kvfrte, and welcome to Ten Forums. *Smile

    If you had set Windows to automatically sign in to a user account at startup and ever changed the computer name afterwards, then you will see a Other user at sign in that fails to sign in, and you must manually select your account and sign in instead. If this is the case, then you could do the steps below again in netplwiz to fix having Windows automatically sign in or not to the user account that you want at startup.

    I changed the computer name before I reset and the "Other User" is the only account. I also never enabled automatically sign into a account.

    Windows 10 laptop shows only "Other User"

    Local Security Policy will only be available in the Pro or Enterprise editions of Windows 10, but you can use OPTION TWO.

    Well, since you reset the laptop anyway, you might see if booting from Windows 10 installation media (USB), and doing a clean install can sort all of this for you.
