A Question regarding a system image

    Hi,

I'm not real sure what is happening there except that maybe your image is actually larger than specified and won't fit the 42GB Partition...

Are both the partitions on that HDD formatted after you create them ?

BTW... The Windows Backup Image folder... if I remembered the name properly...

Does not show it's size, nor will it let you open it without some trickery...

If I remember correctly it may even show as Empty...

Settings app crashes when storage is clicked

    Hi everyone!

So when I go to Settings > System > Storage, I see all my drives and partition. I have a 250 GB Samsung M.2 SSD with 2 partitions. The first one as the primary drive with Windows 10 and my other installed software. The second partition has only my games
so it can load faster. I keep all the other stuff in my second HDD that came with my Acer E5-575G.

Now, when I click on the 2nd SSD partition, the Settings app freezes and closes itself. It used to happen when I first got my laptop and I partitioned the HDD. When clicking the 2nd partition, Settings would just freeze and close. Then I bought an SSD, installed
it and then clean installed Windows 10. I partitioned the SSD into two sections and whenever I click any of the other partitions, they would open. So I thought that the bug disappeared. Then when I updated Windows 10 to 1709, the bug came back. Every time
I click on the 2nd SSD partition, the Settings app would just freeze for about 2 seconds and then close. All the other partitions can be opened except for that one. I have 2 partitions in my SSD and 3 in my HDD. All is up to date according to the Settings
app and I even went to the Device Manager and right-clicked on everything there to update it just to see if it will fix the issue but to no avail. All other items in the Settings app can be opened except for my 2nd SSD partition.

    Hope someone can help me.

    Thanks!

I see 2 things wrong, not sure if they`ll help this issue, but why do you have 2 Active partitions and you have Page Files on 2 separate drives ?

And Disk 0 and Disk 1 should be flip flopped on the motherboard.

Your OS drive should be (but does not have to be) Disk 0 and your storage drive should be Disk 1

Also, your System Reserved partition SHOULD NOT have a letter.

  10. I have no idea about the Page file and Active Partition lol. I doubt I messed with these. I'll try to switch my drives over to their appropriate slots like you said.

OK, fix everything I mentioned above, then post another shot of Disk Management, it shouldn`t take but a few minutes.

I`ll time you....... Ready and Go *Wink

  13. Windows 10 modern apps won't show any HDD/partitions except the one it

Good news, most of my partitions show up in Storage after I deleted the letter associated to System Reserved, yay! Bad news, trying to switch my drives on MOBO prevented me from booting into windows. So I reverted the wires to what they were. (After trying to figure out why my PC kept rebooting by itself before POST, I probably unplugged either a RAM stick or PSU power, woops.)

EDIT: Somehow they won't show up anymore, sigh.

That`s because your system files are on the D partition. This happens when Windows is installed without unplugging all other drives. Did you do that ?

The system files need to be written to the System Reserved partition.

Run a Startup Repair with only the windows drive plugged in.

It should work fine because the SR partition is already marked Active, but, it does not always work.

  15. I always installed Windows without unplugging my other drives, oops. I'll fix that tomorrow.
