.CR2 raw files not opening

Hi,

We may open .cr2 files using the Photo file. We need additional information to help resolve your concern. Are you getting any error message when opening a .cr2 file format? If yes, we recommend setting a default program to open the file. Follow the steps below:

• Open Settings.
  
• Click Apps.
  
• Click Default apps.
  
• Click Choose default apps by file type.
  
• Locate .cr2, then select Photos as the default app.

CR2 Raw files from Canon 7D11 not supported by Microsoft Photo App

I cannot open CR2 photo Files (raw files) in my pc that I have copied from my Canon 7D11 camera using Microsoft Photo App. I can see the Photo app icon but when I try to open the photo files it states that this application does not support these
files. I can open these files using another app such as Picasa 3, so no problem with the files. All camera and pc software is up to date. I’m using Windows 10. I can however open my CR2 from my other Canon camera 5D 111 with no problem. I have contacted Canon
and they informed me to contact Microsoft for a plugin that would support this raw file as the camera is a new model.
I have had no success with Microsoft Support. (Yes I could stick to Picasa 3 but I like Photo App.)

 

How to get rid of raw file support in windows photo viewer?






I have downloaded this, and it did not work; photo viewer is not in the list of programs in Open With or Default App. I used option 2 step 3, followed by step 5 to 9.
