Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro (1903) feature update froze my laptop

Hello everyone, I have a minor issue with my laptop. The laptop in question is a Lenovo ThinkPad X240 (released in 2013, came with Windows 8 Pro, now has Windows 10 Pro)


The first two phases (getting things ready and downloading) went well, but when it comes to installing the update, it got stuck at 93% and even froze my ThinkPad, forcing me to make it restart manually.


I am not in a big hurry to get the 1903 feature update done, perhaps until mid-2020.

Microsoft to make Windows 10 updates mandatory

Well, at the moment at least, you can choose to defer upgrades. Under Settings > Windows Updates > Advanced options you need to check the box labeled "Defer upgrades". What does that do? Good question. The answer I've found might illuminate it to a degree.

I hear this only applies to Pro and Enterprise editions. But I can't verify that.

 

Update Windows 10 - From 1809 to 1903

Windows 10 Feature Update 1903 is being released very slowly by Microsoft, at the moment, this update is being provided to users that choose to update their system manually, that is why it is appearing in the Update Assistant and not in the Windows Update list
in your Settings App

If you do want to update, use the Update Assistant, 1903 is a really stable update and the installation usually runs very smoothly . . .

As far as Wifi any chance it is Qualcom inside USB adapter, if Qualcom then yes known issue.


I might create another user (Local) and when if try again see if this issue occurs on both users.

Would also suggest you run the first 5 steps in this tutorial to see if you have any corruption with current build.
