Wow Service Release 1, I bet it's a biggy! Seriously I'm rooting for Windows, I tried Apple and don't want to go there again!
I'll wait and see if the Service Release hits my machine...well looking I don't see how to access a record of log of Updates and what got fixed?
Where can I find the list of recent updates to my PC?

Right click on the program icon then select Troubleshoot compatibility . The system will try a fix which usually fails. Clicking next then gives you a set of choices which includes permission issues. Select this and the problem is permanently cleared for that program. You may have to repeat this for several different programs. Hope this helps

Windows 10 says I don't have permission to save anything.

I might be misunderstanding something here - I have thousands of files from my previous Windows Seven existance - you say "Repeat with all of problematic folders"...Is there no global fix for all files in my Documents Folder so that I can open -edit - save them like I used to be able to?

I tried this simple fix and I have to say that the troubleshhoter did it's job fixed the Permissions issues and saved the settings which survived the shut down / start up cycle without issues.

So I updated from Windows 7 had the 29JUL15 Download + the 3 subsequent updates...

All my Office programs that I use were giving me problems (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) - all have been fixed in this way...so actually I have to apologise to MS as they issued Windows 10 with the knowledge that this troubleshooter was in place and could fix program incompatibility...and if the Tech Help folks knew about this it would have saved me many many hours of frustration, despair and annoyance...and if Windows had some sort of walk through for fixing usual glitches when changing from Vista/7/8/8.1 to 10 this would have been very useful too...

No...not them...We are all just left to flounder around to come up with fixes for their glitches on our own and if it were not for this WTF Forum (is that deliberate I wonder?) I'd still be struggling.

Of course, it must save them millions. They should offer an incentive system like free MS for life for each one of these fixes you guys come up with...

Thanks again to r0rwy;359782 if I could give you stars I would a whole constellation for getting me out of this problem when MS with all their helpful friendly techies did nowt! Stay well...*Biggrin

I have a drive attached to the router and I can't delete a folder or files within the folder - I get the usual "Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied"
I have tried countless solutions without success, in fact I've just had a message saying that I can't open the Photo App "with the built in Administrator - sign in with a different account." Only I don't have another user / account! One step backwards!
As far as I can see whenever I look at Permissions (using Advanced etc) there is a big list of "objects" but my user name isn't one of them!
How the heck can that be - and how can I fix it?
    I'd really appreciate any help.

I also have the problem of being told I need admin privileges when I am the sole user and can see admin privileges in my user profile.

One thing I found that may add to the puzzle. I have a new windows 10 machine and my wife has a laptop with windows 10 updated from windows 8.1. We both share a Seagate Backup Plus hard drive that we use to make occasional backups for four different computers.

We recently decided to delete some of the backups for old machines from that drive by plugging the drive into her laptop and using shift-delete to remove the folders and sub-folders. This worked for everything except a string of folders and subfolders that ultimately contained an auto.inf file which we could not delete on her machine. When I instead tried the same thing on my machine it deleted with no problem.

Since posters here have commented that they solved this privilege problem by a clean install, this seems to indicate the problem is somehow tied to windows 10 installations that were updates from a previous version.

Not sure if this helps anyone but the data point might be useful

Windows 10 says I don't have permission to save anything.

For some reason this isn't working for me. I did a fresh install of Windows 10 on my new computer and copied over the other partitions from one computer to another. When working in Dreamweaver I noticed it was giving me issues, as in not uploading the files I changed. It would show the new upload date, however when I checked it with FTP it showed the previous version. Probably this is caused by not having rights to modify and upload the file within Dreamweaver.

Also other applications and programs give me the same or similar issues.

I followed the steps as mentioned above, but I get an error after step 8. The screenshot is in Dutch, but I still hope someone can provide some help on how to fix this...

It's annoying that I cannot do the things I want on my own PC within Windows 10...
FYI: My old PC also had Windows 10 installed.

    //edit

Small update. I just clicked continue and it seems to have made the changes. However the same issue with (for example Dreamweaver still exists.

To clarify things; I took two screenshots. One is from Dreamweaver where it shows/says the modified file has been uploaded to the server (you can tell by the time). However looking at the same file through FlashFXP it shows nothing was uploaded and the old (previous) file is still there as in unmodified?!

  14. Are you on the first version released in July or the November Update, if you're on the first build try updating to the November update with the media creation tool, download it here:

    go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209

Choose Upgrade this PC now and you can install the November Update as if you were performing an in place upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 10. If that doesn't work or you don't want the November Update the only other solution I do have that can possibly work is download the Take Ownership registry hack from here,

    http://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content/...eOwnership.zip

Then go to C:\Users or whatever drive letter of the partition you installed it on is and right click on your User account fold and click Take Ownership, that will open a command prompt window and it will start giving you ownership. You might be prompted by User Account Control first. After it closes, restart your computer and try saving something again and see if that fixes it.

Nevermind. Was a mistake on my side. Apparently there was an update in Dreamweaver which now *NEEDS* the home directory entered. Sigh... Sorry for this mistake.
