Windows 10: windows 10 slow boot :(

Hmm, I thought I had fixed this problem but not sure what's going on with my over 2 minutes to boot problem.

I've disabled my amd graphics driver, I thought that was the case.

Is a windows 10 iso file I can download and use my 8.1 key on it ? I'm thinking I should just start from scratch and reformat my pc.

Hi, I removed all use devices that were plugged in. It didn't help. *Sad

 

I tried weeks of troubleshooting this excruciatingly show boot time. Really everything and wasted endless hours only to see minimal improvements.

I bought an SSD and cloned the old drive...just as it was...onto the SSD. I booted up in around 15 seconds. Keep in mind that this was a CLONED drive so the ONLY variable that had been changed was the switch from physical hard drive to the solid state drive.

Just make the change to the SSD and you will instantly solve this problem...and I mean, you probably will not believe it and continue to try to find the magic setting to change but take it from me. Life is so much sweeter not having a slow computer! Just do it...

 

My SATA II mechanical HD boots in 45-50s so it's not HD vs SSD. Something must have changed in the OP computer.

 

Looks like there is a lot of stuff in the start-up.





Diagnostics Test

Clean boot
Please try the following:

• Open taskmanager
  • Go to the tab startup
  • disable everything
• Search msconfig and open it
  • Go to the tab services
  • Check 'hide microsoft services'
  • Uncheck all other services
  • Click apply and click ok
• Reboot if asked

See if the problem persist, if the problem does not persist enable in the startup tab in taskmanager 1 item and in the services tab in msconfig also 1 service, reboot and see if the problem persist. Keep doing this until you find the culprit or there is nothing left.
If the problem still persist, try booting in safe mode and see if the problem still persist

 

Well, it was on mine. Nothing was different as the drive was cloned. Since none of these pre-win10 machines were optimized for Win10 there can be hardware issues that vary machine to machine. I am just telling you the results I had in a similar situation with a laptop from 2011.

I did not see if this part of your question was ever addressed or not.

I think you should be able and download the .ISO file and use it to reinstall your OS, without a keycode. From what I understand, as long as you're already running an activated copy of Win-10, then you won't need to worry about the keycode again on that machine. See HERE for details.

Thanks. I think I finally figured it out. Just a flakey usb external hd connection. I thought I had unplugged all my usb devices? But, it seems to work nicely now.

I disabled all the services in the msconfig, should I re-enable them there as well?
