Windows 10: Windows 10 Version 1903 - Update Problems

Hello there. I am having a lot of different issues trying to install the latest version of Windows 10, 1903. When it was released around one month ago, I tried to update using the Windows 10 Update Assistant that I downloaded from the Microsoft Website. I however received an error saying the following:

“We couldn’t install Windows 10. We’ve set your PC back to the way it was right before you started installing Windows 10. 9x8007042B – 0X3000D. The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation.”

This was before the update was actually made officially available to my Computer. I decided to wait until I actually received a notification about the update and around 2 weeks ago I had a notification that the Update was available to be installed. I have tried to update numerous times, probably around 20 times in total now and I am still nor having any luck. I do however receive a different error message when I try to update using the normal Windows Update dialogue window:

“Feature update to Windows 10, Version 1903. We couldn’t install this update, but you can try again (0x8000ffff.)”

I have followed numerous guides online and even asked others for advice but nothing is working. I can’t even re-install Windows 10 using an ISO file provided from the Windows 10 Install software that I downloaded from the Microsoft Website. The only thing I can do is install Windows 10 1903 and lose all of my data. I just get the “We couldn’t install Windows 10. We’ve set your PC back to the way it was right before you started installing Windows 10. 9x8007042B – 0X3000D. I have contacted Microsoft Support about this matter before and they weren't very useful at all. I have contacted them over live chat 4 times in the past month and the only thing that they would like me to do is keep trying the update. I mentioned to them that I have the Update logs and I asked them if they would be able to get a technician to review the logs but they are now ignoring my emails and it's been 8 days since my last response. I believe that it would provide valuable information about why I am unable to Upgrade my computer to Windows 10 Version 1903. It does not look like Microsoft are willing to help me so I've had to post on this forums instead. Sorry for the long detailed message, I didn't want to miss anything important out.

Window 10, Version 1903 May Update

1. Why are all of the links that you listed not completed. On my computer currently it has Windows 10 Home Version 1803, installed 6/29/2018 with O.S. Build 17134.799. It has used space of 187 GB and 257 GB of free space.

I attempted to install Version 1903 Manually, through Settings/Windows Update, Windows 10 Update Assistant, and other ways without success. I have spent the better part of the past 3 days trying to get this accomplished on my laptop. It has worked on my
PC but not on the laptop.

Listed below are the different error messages that I get after the download stops each time at 90% and converts back to previous settings:

a. Windows 10, Version 1903 error message (0x80240034)

b. We couldn't install this update, but you can try again (0x800703fb)

c. We couldn't install this update, but you can try again (0xC1900101 - 0x4000D)

d. Feature update to Windows 10, Version 1903, We couldn't install this update, but you can try again (0x80070652)

If there are ways to get this latest update installed on my laptop, please let me know what I have to do in detail, step by step.

Known issues for Windows 10 May 2019 Update version 1903


As far as Wifi any chance it is Qualcom inside USB adapter, if Qualcom then yes known issue.


I might create another user (Local) and when if try again see if this issue occurs on both users.

Would also suggest you run the first 5 steps in this tutorial to see if you have any corruption with current build.

Windows 10, version 1903 update failure

Hmm, this is Windows 10 1809 which is the most recent release which is now being succeeded by Windows 10 1903.

I would carry out the steps from my initial reply to reset your Windows Update components.

Have you checked the manufacturers website to determine compatibility?

Your configuration might not be listed yet, since it is just rolling out.

Ultimately, I would wait until the ISO file is available then upgrade offline using these steps:
