  1. Windows Spazzing Out (icons and app defaults)

So a few hours ago at the time of this post, im doing my thing, on the internet researching devcon command-line arguments and what I can make out of a lot of apples we got yesterday, when for no reason, my windows starts spazzing out. my desktop and taskbar icons start blinking in and out, and manual refresh does nothing, so I open up task manager and look at the processes, and apparently my adobe acrobat dc was trying to update somehow? So I uninstall Adobe Acrobat DC, and the problem persists, so I end the explorer in task manager, and restart it, and that fixed it (for good, I don't know). Also, it reset a bunch of my Default Program permissions to Microsoft Edge, forcing me to reassign everything all over again

I don't know what possessed my computer to do that out of the blue, but before all this happened, yesterday I ran a full scan with mcafee and superantispyware (both updated to most current versions, database and all), and both returned green-light, no problems; not even a dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth, nor a sfc /scannow reported anything wrong. I worry when my computer does something like this, but to be sure, has anyone else had this problem just now. If so, is there a concrete suspect I need to watch out for, that would be nice to know. System specs in profile, I use shark007 advanced codecs which includes icaros-config for icon thumbnails, and all relavent computer updates are applied

    :)

It would help to have a video of what is going on. Next time it happens, upload it to youtube and link the video. Could just be your Graphics Card. They do tend to do that when not enough voltage, overheating or overclocked causing voltage levels to drop and the card to overheat. Also the monitor can be at fault. Make sure that you have the latest drivers and correct Resolution and cycles set.

  5. I don't think nor do I know if it will happen again, but ill record it in-case it happens; a month and some change ago, I did unplug my computer and cleaned it out of all the dust and crap that clogged it; sat it on an ESD Mat, used an esd wrist strap, and with some cotton pads and rubbing alcohol, I cleaned my cpu and cooling unit of all the old thermal compound (making sure I double wiped both with dry pads) and put some new stuff on; took apart my graphics card too and did the same, made sure I put everything back together like it was before, my card NEEDED it, there was a thick layer of dust in the fans

my nvidia drivers are set to the latest stable versions, I got an hdmi-to-mini-hdmi adapter and switched to that, and I have in no way used an overclockng program on my graphics card; its been set at default voltage and speeds, far as I can tell

If it happened once, it will happen again. I would check all connections, get a tester to check voltage output for your power supply, check to make sure your card is still running as it should by using NVIDIA's tests to check for voltage and such. There are many ways to check to clear these problems and do not just go on thinking that it will never again.

  7. the one thing I can say is happening, is something messed with my taskbar just now (at the time of this post)

I had it set so the safely remove icon, my dropbox icon, and my IDM manager icon was on the taskbar bottom right, but all of that was moved back into that icon box instead; I will admit, I used NTLite to customize my windows 10 install to remove what I considered bloatware, and to remove some metro apps I would never need, plus I made sure to do extensive research on NTLite and what I removed to make sure nothing removed would BSOD my computer, and its worked everytime

ill run another full superantispyware scan and mcafee scan, maybe use adwcleaner also; in-case this is a virus thing neither of my scanners are picking up on, any recommendations for FREE scanners? (no shareware trials, im tired of them)

ok, so superantispyware and mcafee didn't get anything, adwcleaner picked up a rogue auslogisc registry entry, but now the arrow icons for shortcuts got replaced by X icons

I looked on bing and it gave me this link; I used the default arrow .reg file, but ill still go through with the chkdsk; in the mean time, I hope it isn't a "rogue" windows mechanic messing with my computer

  10. chkdsk scan has ran its course, ran another mcafee/superantispyware/adwcleaner full scan(s), and a dism scanhealth and sfc check, and nothing wrong; seems like the registry file fixed it; perhaps one of my cleaners ended up deleting the shell icons folder by accident, ill make sure to whitelist that from every cleaner I got
