Hello Does anybody know what this means, present in Event Viewer;

Unable to install Update for Windows KB4020102

After looking through the event logs, I found 3 errors that appear from each update attempt. They are:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800F0922: 2017-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4020102).

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070005: Microsoft Photos.

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070005: Movies & TV.

 

Cumulative update (KB3147458) fails to install just like the three previous cumulative Win10 updates.

I may have a fix! Well it worked on my machine so sample size of 1.

I have 3 windows 10 computers, 2 laptops and a desktop and the 2 laptops upgraded fine but my desktop failed with the same issues are reported here.

In my case it was crashing at 3% and the issue appeared to be related to a failure to upgrade 1 of the 16 drivers it was attempting to patch. It was failing with a "0x80070003 – ERROR_PATH_NOT_FOUND"

I have blogged the full details of how to diagnose and fix this issue so the update would succeed. This has worked on my machine and should work for you in the instance where it is related to a failure on the driver updates.

The blog post will at least help you diagnose the issue which can be found in the "C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.Log" file.

I have no idea what that is, but if you're two hours behind me (local time), I would say that's probably something that shouldn't be there. Perhaps you could fill in your system specs and give us some history about your computer and what's installed on it?

For system specs, if you follow the link I posted, it tells you how to fill them in completely, so that anyone helping you can look at them, in any post on any page - it helps us to help you. Here is what I mean:







Right now, yours says Windows 10 pro and nothing else. If you look at mine, you see what kind of information we need.

First, let's run a scan to make sure you don't have any infections which might be preventing updates:
ADWCleaner
If ADWCleaner finds anything, please post the log here. It can be found at C:\AdwCleaner\

Next, you can try resetting Windows Update to see if that makes a difference.

Next, run the System File Checker, to make sure your OS files are in good shape.
SFC Command - Run in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Sometimes this needs to be run at least three times, with reboots in-between, if files need to be repaired.
If it still can't fix everything after that, we may try some DISM commands.

Sounds like Redmond time to me.
Check if your time zone is set correctly.

 

Note Windows 10 will not update anything system or UWP app related unless the time zone is correctly set. Also app tiles will not refresh either.

You're probably trying to update a non-English version with an English version, or vice versa. Upgrades must be a 1 for 1 for language and edition (home/pro, etc..)

 

Hi I did upgrade 1.1 of Bulgarian Bulgarian.

 

Were they the same edition? You also cannot upgrade a Single Language version with a multi-language version.
