Windows 10: WINDOWS UPDATE RELEASED KB4467699 BUILD NO 15063.1478 TO WINDOWS 10 V1703 ON 27-11-2018

Very important notice form Microsoft, for this version 1703 and earlier versions


1. Windows 10, version 1703, reached end of service on October 8, 2018. Devices running Windows 10 Home, Pro, Pro for Workstation, and IoT Core editions will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates that contain protection from the latest security threats.
To continue receiving security and quality updates, Microsoft recommends updating to the latest version of Windows 10.


2. Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education editions will receive one year of additional servicing at no cost.

Improvements and fixes


This update includes quality improvements. No new operating system features are being introduced in this update. Key changes include:

• Addresses an issue that causes navigation across eras to stop working in the Japanese Calendar view.
• Addresses an issue related to the date format for the Japanese era calendar.
• Addresses an issue that causes the GetCalendarInfo function to return an incorrect era name on the first day of the Japanese era.
• Addresses an issue that prevents the deletion of word spellings from the Microsoft Office dictionary using settings.
• Addresses time zone changes for Russian daylight standard time.
• Addresses an issue in the Universal CRT that sometimes causes the AMD64-specific implementation of FMOD to return an incorrect result when given very large inputs. FMOD is frequently used to implement the modulo operator in JavaScript and Python implementations that use the Universal C Runtime.
• Addresses an issue that may cause excessive memory usage when using smart cards.
• Addresses an issue that causes the system to stop working with the error code, “0x120_fvevol!FveEowFinalSweepConvertSpecialRangesChunk”.
• Addresses an issue that blocks ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer on 64-bit systems. This occurs when using Windows Defender Application Control and creating a policy that allows all ActiveX controls to run in Internet Explorer.

If you installed earlier updates, only the new fixes contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

Windows Update Improvements


Microsoft has released an update directly to the Windows Update client to improve reliability. Any device running Windows 10 configured to receive updates automatically from Windows Update, including Enterprise and Pro editions, will be offered the latest Windows 10 feature update based on device compatibility and Windows Update for Business deferral policy. This doesn't apply to long-term servicing editions.

Known issues in this update

Symptom 1

After you install the August Preview of Quality Rollup or September 11, 2018 .NET Framework update, instantiation of SqlConnection can throw an exception. For more information about this issue, see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

4470809 SqlConnection instantiation exception on .NET 4.6 and later after August-September 2018 .NET Framework updates.

After installing this update, users may not be able to use the Seek Bar in Windows Media Player when playing specific files.

Before installing this update

Microsoft strongly recommends you install the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system before installing the latest cumulative update (LCU).
