When evaluating computers problems may be caused by software conflicts or problems with hardware.
Clean boot should eliminate most software conflicts.
Safe mode should help differentiate software from hardware problems.

The computer can be in normal boot, selective boot, or clean boot before switching to safe mode.
When you choose safe mode it can be with or without command prompt or with or without networking.

So I guess that I can leave my system as is and go to safemode with networking. Not sure my ZIP would change. Anyway the easy way to get to safemode is a restart holding the shift key.

Could it be your anti-virus/firewall configured to scan something on reboot? Knew of someone who had their security program do a reboot and scan (during reboot only before the desktop appears) of problem files or USB drives.

I do not think so. This issue happens after the system has been running for hours and it thinks there is a kernal power or reboot issue.

Well, I had to roast coffee so sorry for the delay. 64 bit Windows 10 1703 REBOOTS! :)
If I start Safe Mode by using the shift restart option and select with Networking, will it continue in this mode unless I change it or will it boot normally the next time it boots?

It will boot normally each time unless you hold down the shift key and click restart.

Please update your progress with the steps in post #29.
    Which steps have been completed?
Please post the results into the thread.

Well, as I had said, the Clean Boot did not help so I did not post a New Zip. I am going to try Safe Mode. One thing I am not sure of is if, after 6 hours + it reboots if I click something else in a browser, or if the same would happen just because it is powered on. Too bad I can not make it come up in safe mode from a power on, but I guess that is not needed.

Well, I am not in safemode yet but I was ripping a cd with WMP and it was OK, but when I tried to finish it rebooted. It seems like it may be a TIME issue and not the fact that I was using a browser. Still, do you think it could be RAM? I can try 1 at a time as I have 2 matched 8GB sticks.

    Any test results for:

    administrative command prompt:
    1) sfc /scannow
    2) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    3) chkdsk /x /f /r

    4) startup and recovery > settings > post an image into the thread

OK, let me do an Image first. Do you want this now or after the SafeMode test? I had done this once before but never did get any errors.

Perform steps 1,2 and 4 before going into safe mode.

Step 3 will require a reboot and should be done before safe mode:

    C:\Windows\system32>chkdsk /x /f /r
The type of the file system is NTFS.
    Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

    Type: y
    Then reboot

Plan to run the chkdsk command on all partitions.
The test may take many hours so plan to run overnight.

Use the information in this link to find the report in the event viewer:

    zbook.
Even ASUS said they believe this is a PSU issue and I wonder if I should stop all of this until I can just take the one out of my wife's z170 system I built for her.

the start up and recovery settings can be posted
chkdsk testing will require a reboot
The safe mode is to see whether there is or is not freezing/hangs
Was there much time that it was in clean boot?
