How to: Allow or Deny OS and Apps Access to Documents Library in Windows 10

Allow or Deny OS and Apps Access to Documents Library in Windows 10 [IMG]
Information Starting with Windows 10 build 17063, you can now allow or deny Windows 10 and apps access to the documents library on your device (PC) for all users.

If you allow access, users on your PC will be able to turn on or off if their apps have documents library access. If you turn on to allow apps access to your documents library, you can choose to turn on (allow) or off (deny) access for individual apps.

This tutorial will show you how to change Privacy settings to allow or deny Windows and apps access to the documents library for all users or only your account in Windows 10.

Note Starting with Windows 10 build 17083, Microsoft is giving you more control so you can now decide which UWP apps can access your pictures, videos, or documents folders. If a UWP app needs access to any of these, a consent dialog will pop up prompting you to accept or deny the request. If you deny access to a particular folder, to protect your privacy that UWP app will revert to only being able to access its local app folder.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Windows 10 Access Denied - Documents and Settings

Using a Dell PC and a Toshiba laptop.

    Wireless in-home network.

Changed from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

If I try to open the files G B-P suggests above--C:\Users\Owner\documents, or using my name instead of 'Owner'--access to Documents files (not MyDocuments) is NOT allowed.

I have gone through the steps for sharing and adding permissions, but as Administrator and Owner, as I certainly am, I cannot access files that I created myself.
