BSOD Driver IRQL Not less or equal on Windows 10 Bootup

    Hi,
I am sorry, but I couldn't post a debug-YourComputerName-xxxx.zip file because I am currently unable to use my computer.
But anyway, I originally posted this question on another answer website, and somebody started helping me and then stopped. I would really appreciate help. Here is what was discussed in the other website.

This was the original post by me.
    Hi,
I installed Rollback RX yesterday because I wanted to roll back windows 10 to windows 8.1 (Wish I originally had). Since then, when I boot up, It comes up with the BSOD Driver IRQL Not less or equal.
I tried reinstalling windows 10, but it said the HDD was locked. I contacted Microsoft and they headed me to Asus (the makers of my laptop), who were no help at all.
I need my computer, it has inportant stuff on it. I have just spent the last 4 hours looking on fixes for this, but I get nothing.
I know my way around computers and am happy to go deep into the BIOS or CMD
    Please Help,
    Thanks

Then this is my discussion with him.

    Hello

This tutorialmight be of some help.

Feel free to come back if more assistance is needed.

    Cheers!!

    Hi,
The screen comes up on bootup.
    I can't access Safe Mode.
Even through the Advanced Startup Options, It still shows the BSOD, before I get to safemode.
    Thanks

    Hello again

Can you try Resetting Your Windows to Factory Defaults?

    Hope this helps.

    .
When I try to do that, it says the HDD is locked. I can't even do a system restore, automatic repair, refresh your PC, or Reset either! :-(

    Hello again

A few fixes are needed to unlock the HDD and reset your PC. This link will help you get it done.

    Cheers!!

    Hi,
Thanks for the time and thought,
but when I followed the steps in the link you posted I got this,

    Sucsefully scanned Windows installations.
    Total identified Windows Installations: 1
    [1] C:\Windows
    Add installation to boot list?

    I selected {Y} (Yes)
    And then it said

'The requested system device cannot be identified due to multiple indistinguishable devices potentially matching the identification criteria.'

    Hello again

Do you have any USB peripherals like keyboard, mouse, printer, etc. connected to the PC? If so, can you please disconnect them and then try again?

    Cheers!!

Nothing is conected to the PC

    Hello again

Jeremy R. Budnack has found a fix for the issue and has explained it here.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks

    Hello again

You can learn this from here.

    Cheers!!

    Hi,
The partition with the OS is the active drive already, the others are all 'unactive'.
But, suddenly windows started coming up with this error, witch I hope will help you in diagnosing the issue.

'Your PC/Device needs to be repaired.
The Boot Configuration Data for your PC is missing or contains errors.
    File: EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD
    Error Code: 0xc000000f'

    Hope this helps,
Thanks for all you have done so far, it is really greatly appreciated!

    Cheers!!

    Hi,
I tried that but on the first step with bcdedit C:\BCD_Backup
    It just said
The requested system device cannot be identified due to multiple indistinguishable devices potentially matching the identification criteria.
UPDATE! I tried it again and this time it worked, but when I got to 'cd Boot', it said file not found
Thanks for all you have done,
    Thanks

BSOD Driver IRQL Not less or equal on Windows 10 Bootup

Hello 7Malligk, I will try to help you with this. The first thing I would like you to do, is go into BIOS and Boot Tab and see if your hard drive is listed there and what the boot devices are set to. Don't change anything, just look.

See if you can do a system restore to a point before you installed Rollback RX System Restore Windows 10.

Do you have the Windows 10 install media? If not follow this and download it to a DVD or USB drive https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/9...-download.html

Once you have that you can just follow the screens just like you were going to do a clean install. When you get to the where to install Windows, in the advanced options, click 'load drivers'. You will get a browse window. You will need an external hard drive or something else, but you will be able to copy and paste your files from your OS to the external source. While there, please look in your OS drive (not always named C in the recovery environment) go to the Windows Folder and look for a folder name Minidump. Please copy that file and zip it up and upload it with your next post.

This will tell you more about the recovery options available to you. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5...lure-boot.html

    Hi,
My HDD is locked, i don't know why, I didn't lock it, but it is. This means I can't System Restore, I can't Automatic Repair, and I can't even reinstall Windows. My only option is CMD.
As regards to the BIOS, the only thing that comes up is my HDD. Nothing else. I have nothing else plugged in.
And finally, although I set my computer to get the minidump. It is not coming up, (I know how bad this is!). I searched the whole HDD for it but it doesn't come up.
    Thanks for your help.

I have one of those Sata/IDE to USB adapters, so I can plug the HDD of the broken computer into the computer I am using now to type.
    Thanks

Most of your personal files are in Users. Documents, pictures, music and such. Copy them all out and onto another hard drive., just in case.

OK, try getting to the command prompt and running these commands and press enter after each one. Then try to rteboot.
    Code: bootrec /fixMBR bootrec /fixBoot bootrec /rebuildBCD[/quote]

7malligk, just jumping in to ask you to help members help you by filling in the system specifications for the machine with the issue you're trying to solve.

This will take you right there: https://www.tenforums.com/profile.php?do=extra The full model number is important.
essenbee: Might the locked drive be due to Secure Boot?
Secure Boot - Enable or Disable in UEFI

Not sure if the machine is UEFI or BIOS, so the system specs will help.

This is from post #1. I believe it is UEFI.

I don't know about secure boot. The EFI partition has to be selected as the boot partition, I believe and should be the active partition.

  15. Thanks, I'm really going blind - I've been missing a lot of things on a lot of threads.

I mentioned Secure boot because of the 'locked' drive, but it could very well be, as you asked, BitLocker or even TrueCrypt

If it hasn't already been done, resetting Firmware might work - but then the settings would have to be checked and confirmed.
If that was also in post# 1 (or any other post), please excuse my 2nd strike ... one more strike and I'm back on the bench *Wink
