Windows 10: Can the lock screen on boot be disabled in Win10 1607

Am I missing something? What's the value of having to click the lock screen to get to the sign-in screen? I had instructions to suppress this in 1511 at http://windows.wonderhowto.com/how-t...ws-10-0162965/ , but it no longer works in 1607. Is there any known method to accomplish the same thing in 1607?

Which laptop is this? For a 3 year old system to exhibit such issues is quite bad. I just clean installed Win10 1607 on someone's 7 year old Acer Aspire One 532h and this ancient netbook has no issues with WiFi at all, or indeed any hardware drivers (everything
was detected and installed by Win10 itself). Seems to me much of your complaints about the OS can be laid at the door of terrible OEM hardware and driver support instead.

 

How do I disable the lock screen on windows 10pro?

Hi guys I am trying to disable the lock screen so it does not appear at start-up. I have tried the registry edit way and the group policy way and even in settings I can not change it. I am using windows 10 pro, Version 1607, OS Build 14393.321, from what
I can find on the web the win10 Anniversary update blocks the lock screen from being disabled. But my way of thinking is there has to be a way. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

You can still use OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to disable the lock screen in W10 1607, but it won't work the lock screen at startup.

If you set Windows 10 automatically sign in to your account at startup, you won't see it anymore. Of course, you may not want to do that if you have other people using your computer.

When is a lock screen not a lock screen? To my mind the one at start up is useless if all you have to do to remove it is click on it? A waste of time loading it IMO.
As the OP stated what is the value of it at start up, especially on a desktop?

I think even in that case, the lock screen briefly appears, but it does quickly go away by itself. This is good to keep aware of, but, as you say, not a good solution in all cases.
