Windows 10: Cumulative Update KB3197954 Windows 10 PC and Mobile build 14393.351

UPDATE October 27th 2016: KB3197954 has now been released to the general public (non-Insiders).




Information Microsoft has released a new cumulative update Windows Update to Windows 10 PC and Mobile.

This will bring Windows 10 to Build 14393.351.

This update includes quality improvements. No new operating system features are being introduced in this update. Key changes include:

• Improved reliability of Internet Explorer 11, Start, File Explorer, action center, graphics, and the Windows kernel.
• Addressed issue that was causing System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) Management Console to crash in State view.
• Addressed connectivity issue from a 32-bit application to a Remote Desktop Gateway that doesn’t have HTTP tunneling enabled.
• Addressed issue of updates not being restored when doing a system reset, even if those updates were permanently installed.
• Addressed issue that was causing domain logon attempts to fail on a Windows 10 Pro device after upgrading from Windows 10 Home.
• Addressed issue that was causing failed logon counts of non-admin users without network logon permissions to be counted as cumulative, resulting in devices going into BitLocker recovery more frequently.
• Improved support for websites by updating the HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) preload list.
• Improved support for IT administrators using Group Policy to block users updating the operating system from Windows Update.
• Improved reliability and stability of the notification framework for enabling contextual notifications in File Explorer.
• Addressed an issue that prevented System Center Configuration Manager from performing inventory uploads via Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) when Encrypting File System (EFS) has been disabled.
• Addressed additional issues with USB, Wi-Fi, clustering, setup, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer 11, licensing, PowerShell, Component Object Model (COM), Windows kernel, graphics, and Bluetooth.

need fix for cumulative update for windows 10 version 1607 for x64 systems (KB3197954 - Error 0x8e5e0152

This computer had windows 7 pro. It was upgraded to windows 10 pro. Then it was updated with the newest version 1607 build 14393.222. My other computer without windows update problems has build 14393.351.

Numerous updates over the past few months have worked and this one persistently fails:

cumulative update for windows 10 version 1607 for x64 systems (KB3197954 - Error 0x8e5e0152

each retry produces the same failure

running windows update troubleshooter always finds and fixes something and then a retry produces the same failure.

The last windows update that was successful was yesterday. How do you fix this persistent update failure with its error code?

I installed this using the .cab file and all went well with correct build showing up in winver.

Today I ran Check for updates manually and it started downloading CU KB3197954.







I find it confusing that this was downloaded as it was already installed.

Can anyone provide an answer please ?

 

Did anyone get the CU above again today through WU? *Confused It updated according to "update history" but no change in build number 14393.351. Can't find anything on it???

Yep, got the same update on three machines today even though same Knowledge Base number was already installed a couple of days ago. Today's download took a considerable period of time even though isp connection is fast and machines are likewise.

Just to clarify guys, this is still just an insider only update right? I don't go in for any insider stuff but just wondered if it should of progressed to the normal public by now - I haven't seen it come via Windows update and wonder if I should be seeing it. Neither of our two machines has shown it yet
