How to Enable or Disable Always Force Guest Mode in Google Chrome

While browsing in Guest mode in Google Chrome, you won't see or change any other Chrome profile's info. When you exit Guest mode, your browsing activity is deleted from the computer.

    Guest mode is ideal for:
    • Letting others borrow your computer, or borrowing someone else’s computer.
    • Using a public computer, like one at a library or cafe.
Guest mode stops Chrome from saving your browsing activity.

Your activity might still be visible to:
    • Websites you visit, including the ads and resources used on those sites
    • Your employer, school, or whoever runs the network you’re using
    • Your internet service provider
If you sign in to an account to use a web service (like Gmail) while in Guest mode, your browsing activity might be saved on sites that recognize that account.

If there's a supervised user on your computer, Guest mode isn't available when all non-supervised profiles are locked.

If you want to browse privately on your own computer, use Incognito mode. You'll see your info and settings without saving any browsing history.

Starting with guest sessions and prevents profile logins. Guest logins are Google Chrome profiles where all windows are in incognito mode.

This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable Google Chrome to always open in and enforce Guest mode for your account or all users in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.

    Disable Guest Browsing

There is currently no way to disable Guest browsing ("Browse as Guest") in Chrome running on Windows. Guest browsing can only be disabled on a Chromebook.

EDIT: Starting with Chrome 73 (which is quite recent) it's now possible to do this. That's because, starting with Chrome 73, Google has made it possible for certain Chrome settings to be centrally managed through the Windows registry. You can use the instructions

    here
    .

Editing the Windows registry is dangerous! One mistake can really make a mess of things. Be very careful if you're going to do this.

  6. Public Computer Chrome Private vs. Guest Mode

So I was on a public computer today and went to gmail and I always use Private Mode and in addition I restart the computer when I am done. Today was the first time I saw an option to browse in Guest mode as opposed to private mode.

    https://support.google.com/chrome/an...sktop&hl=en-GB

    Open Guest mode

    1. On your computer, open Chrome.
    2. At the top right, click the button with a name or People

      .
    3. Click Guest.

I noticed that the People icon is not available in Private mode but only when I open up a regular browser window. So on a public computer which offers more privacy selecting private mode or guest mode. I use a public computer every day for an hour or so and this was the first time I saw that option. TIA.
