Hang at shutdown or restart - BSOD Driver_Power_State_Failure

I forgot that you disabled fast startup already in previous installation *Redface

Did the problem also occur before you installed the SSD?
How did you install Windows again? Was it a clean install where you deleted all partitions from the previous installation?

I haven't experienced this before. Regarding Windows installation, it's a fresh install without any data. Here are the things that I did throughout my SSD upgrade:
- Remove old HDD, replace by SSD and install Windows 10 successfully on it. (I remember that everything is still normal at this time... not really sure though)
- Remove DVD drive, replace by a Caddy bay with new Hitachi 500GB HDD.
- Realize that the SSD disk was formatted with MBR, while I want to have GPT disk format.
+Research on Internet, read somewhere that I must enable UEFI boot in BIOS => open BIOS setting but found no UEFI option there (at this stage, I edit some settings as animated logo, disable legacy usb boot but already revert to default now).
+Research more on Internet, found out that the USB to install Windows must be formatted in FAT32 => download Rufus program and make the USB boot => successfully install Windows on SSD (with GPT disk format)
- And then I have this constant failure *Sad

Things that I already tried:
- Reinstall/Reset/SFC Scan/DISM Windows 10 => failure
- Replace the SSD with old HDD (with all old data, Windows, settings,...) => failure @@
- Boot in Safe Mode => work as normal

Thanks for your description about what you've done *Smile

A quick view in the manual of your laptop shows that the UEFI boot option in the BIOS is present in the 'Boot' part.
Is your BIOS set to enable UEFI boot?

That's what I really want to find out as there's nothing in my BIOS *Sad I'm now looking for some way to reset/restore the BIOS to the firmware from ASUS website, but it says I already had the latest one and does not allow me to flash it again @@

You indeed have the latest version and it seems the BIOS mode is UEFI.

I've requested help for this problem, my guess is that the problem lies with your BIOS, UEFI and GPT but I'm not 100% sure of a proper next step without reinstalling with MBR format.

It's hard to tell, but for your information, my old HDD was in GPT format and it had no problem until I did all of these. I even tried to put it back (as I said above) but still have the same issue. So I think there must be something wrong with my BIOS and those UEFI stuff since some person said that they also had problem with this BIOS by simply adjust some basic setting as animated logo (and it's exactly what I did).

I highly appreciate all of your help and may willing to try any possible way you would like to have to rectify this crazy headache. Thanks mate!

You have tried to revert back the changes by loading the optimal default settings I understood from your post wherein your described what happened?

Some SSDs are not very savvy with Hibernation, Sleep, Fast startup, etc.

Disable Hibernation, at least as a test. Hibernate - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Disable Fast Startup: Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Follow the Option 1 of Power Plan Settings - Change in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

For the Hard Disk, apply this settings:Attachment 83499 See how it goes. Let us know.

It may look astonishing to you that the computer BSODs during shut down but I am behind other power states. Well, dont worry, I want to stop the sleep/hibernation file as generates during shutdown; and the above steps will do that.

If it does not do any better, we have to take some further steps.

Yes, I reverted it back to the 'default factory setting' already but not sure if it leaves any issue behind or not.

About disabling hibernation and fast-startup, it's the 1st thing that I tried when encountering this problem as mentioned in my first post. I will check the 'Hard-disk' setting in Power options and let you know later. Many thanks for your great help so far.

OK, please let us see the recent BSOD dumps after applying those settings.

Also upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :

• Download and execute Driverview
• View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
• Edit > Select all
• File > Save Selected Items
• In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
• Zip the .txt file and upload it.

It doesn't, in the BIOS your setup is detected and thus when you apply the default settings the BIOS detecs what setting is the best for the current hardware.
When one changes the CPU but still gets problems from the previous setup they reset the settings in the BIOS to the optimized settings for the current hardware setup and the problem normally goes away.

In that case it may not be a BSOD.

Enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers. Driver Verifier - Enable and DisableRun Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Hang at shutdown or restart - BSOD Driver_Power_State_Failure [IMG]
Information Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

Hang at shutdown or restart - BSOD Driver_Power_State_Failure [IMG]
Warning Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

Tip

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Do I need to use the laptop and do something, or just start it up and leave it there, during the time Driver Verifier running in background for 24 hours?
