Just to verify and catch everyone up, what do you have left needing help with?

I use my local administrator account, so why am I getting this error?

It's bothering me that, though it never happened until recently, User Account Control will not allow me to install a program without entering the Microsoft account password that I don't know. I'd prefer to install programs without need for passwords, as originally.
    In post #28 you wrote
    I said in post #30
Were you actually recommending me to use the option?

I hope I will have no need to raise more questions, as once you reply, I shall start the reset, but please do not go on vacation yet.*Biggrin

The "Gordon E" account should be the only one prompting for a password since it's not an administrator account.

If able, you can sign in to your "ghc80" account to make "Gordon E" an administrator.

Unfortunately, you'll probably have to reset the password of the MSA first since you don't know it.

Even now, I am not sure how your response will apply to the UAC problem once the reset is complete.

The password reset would only be needed if that's the administrator account you need to sign in to be able to make the other account having the issue an administrator.

I've gotten mixed up on which account is having the UAC issue. *Redface

Gordon E is the one logged in to. When trying to install a program.

Problem! After Troubleshooter there's no Reset option, only those for changing UEFI hardware, and startup settings.

Sorry not to be clear!*Redface I have changed Gordon E to Local Administrator successfully.
It's the reset that is giving trouble. I used the option in the tutorial to use settings. I got to Troubleshooter (blue screen background, and as seemed suggested clicked on that expecting to see the option to reset; there was none.

Tutorial Reset Windows 10 Windows 10 Installation Upgrade Tutorials I tried to use top option in pic 1, but no recovery media was found, so used bottom option. Pics 2 shows the Troubleshooter option; pic 3 the options with nothing about a reset.
I must be doing something wrong, but what? Computer Disk management looks odd also. Should I have all those recovery partitions?*Confused

    Recovery Partition 829 MB
    Recovery Partition 11.44 GB

You have recovery partitions that are left over from the factory load of software, but which aren't actually being currently used by Windows 10. To see if there is a recovery partition that is actually being used by Windows, you will want to open a Command Prompt (Admin) or Powershell (Admin) and run the command:

    reagentc /info

I would guess you are probably going to get a result that says the recovery environment is disabled.

With all the problems that have been reported attempting to use the Reset This PC function - I would never do it. I would just do a clean install.
