Leak suggests Windows 10 May 2020 Update launch is imminent

Microsoft has already finalized the next Windows 10 feature update ‘May 2020 Update’ and it’s only a matter of time until the update is pushed to production devices. As we reported recently, the rollout will start sometime between May 26 and May 28, and no specifics are available for the time being.

A new leak has now confirmed that Microsoft will also announce Cortana update with Windows 10 version 2004 later this week, possibly on May 27 or May 28.

The screenshot, which was leaked over the weekend, points to a May 28 launch date for Microsoft’s new Cortana experience. Since the new Cortana app is included in May 2020 Update, it’s likely that Microsoft is also planning to launch the feature update on Wednesday or Thursday.

The May 28th date has been rumoured before as well. According to a report published in the first week of May, the day when the Windows 10 May 2020 Update (also known as version 2004), could go live is May 28.

In late April, Microsoft had reportedly decided to push back the release for approximately two weeks due to a zero-day vulnerability in Windows 10, which was fixed with a cumulative update on May 12.

It’s believed that Microsoft wants everything to be as flawless as possible and the company will opt for a phased or progressive rollout approach, and further refinements could be made next month before the update is widely available for all consumers via Windows Update.

Late last week, Microsoft also released a new batch of media images of May 2020 Update to the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) channel. The updated media images include the latest security and additional fixes, and it bumps the build number to 19041.264.

May 2020 Update for Windows 10 is expected to introduce a series of improvements including faster performance, faster Windows Search, new Cortana layout, Cloud Reset, Windows Subsystem for Linux, Windows Hello in Safe Mode, and more.

  2. Windows 10 fails to update

    Thanks,

The Users list compared to the Profile list you posted earlier tell me there is not an issue with Users (a known issue where there is a profile in the list, but not actual User folder).

The error code suggests corruption in the CBS manifest:
Try these steps one at time until the issue is resolved or you run out of steps.

    Is Windows activated?
    No? Activate Windows 10

    Launch Command Prompt (Admin)

    launch regedit
    navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
change the value of DisableWindowsUpdateAccess to 0
    exit regedit

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Leak suggests Windows 10 May 2020 Update launch is imminent :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
