    Hi,
No C is full is pretty much why.
Plus what ever else you have done to limit updating the FCU is an update so you'll have to make up your mind if you want updates or not and undo the things to limit them from your data package.

I definitely want the updates, I cleared up 30 GB now, should that be enough? I can free up more space if need be.

Are these the steps I need to take now:

To get all windows partitions onto one disk, you would
    - create an image of C:
    - delete the Windows partitions on the other disk
    - clean install Windows onto your system disk
    - restore your image of C: in place of the newly created one

    ?

Edit: My Windows folder says Size: 27.2 GB, Size on Disk: 24,7 GB. So would it be ok if I had 40 GB free space on C:?

My laptop is stuck at v1607

I really appreciate your help and sorry for asking this but I'm really confused as to what I'm doing at this point. What does running disk clean-up do exactly? Does it delete my personal files or are you telling me to move them because I will need the storage space? Will Windows still run after I do the disk cleanup, will I "Download 1709" through normal Windows Update procedures? Is this what we call a clean install? Do I not need an image of C:? Will I need a Windows installer CD?

My laptop is stuck at v1607

The error code in post #1 was 8007000D.
This error code does not exist in the current logs.
The recommended starting point in the troubleshooting failed upgrade logs is the error code.
So a new attempt is needed at upgrading to generate logs to troubleshoot.

These were some problems that I saw in the logs:

The event log was approximately 1 month old and the most remarkable entry were the WHEA controlled hardware errors.

Code: Event[3556]: Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-WHEA-Logger Date: 2018-02-11T19:39:08.823 Event ID: 17 Task: N/A Level: Warning Opcode: Info Keyword: N/A User: S-1-5-19 User Name: NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE Computer: DESKTOP-C7O6GIN Description: A corrected hardware error has occurred. For the failure to upgrade many of the log entries were ambiguous.

    Drive: C:
    Free Space: 28.5 GB
    Total Space: 238.3 GB
    File System: NTFS
    Model: Samsung SSD 850 EVO M.2 250GB

    Drive: D:
    Free Space: 855.8 GB
    Total Space: 953.3 GB
    File System: NTFS
    Model: HGST HTS721010A9E630

The event logs was approximately 1 month in duration.
It had controlled WHEA hardware errors and no uncorrected BSOD.

For the Panther logs there were error messages related to partitions and to users.
    However these were too ambiguous.

Can you choose 1 drive for the Windows upgrade and remove the other drive from the computer during the upgrade. That is what is suggested as a troubleshooting step. Whether that does or does not have an impact on the partition warnings reported in the logs is unknown until it is done by trial and error.

    Backup the drive using Macrium.
Create a brand new restore point.
and Create more free space on the drive.

This is an upgrade check list. Run through each step to optimize the computer for the next upgrade attempt. This will be to generate logs so that an error code can be used in the debugging of the logs.

    UPGRADE CHECK LIST:
Run through this check list before the next upgrade attempt:

    1) remove nonessential hardware
    docks
    USB devices
    printers
    headset
    speakers
    bluetoot devices
USB drives (other than a windows 10 iso if used for the upgrade)
USB Wireless Mouse or Keyboard Receiver, USB Wireless Network Card,

    2) These should be the only attached devices:
    wired mouse
    wired keyboard
    monitor

Any of these that have been done in the week prior to the next upgrade they are not necessary to repeat (Please repeat any step so that it is done within the week before the upgrade)

    3) open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste: (repair file system)
    chkdsk /x /f /r

    C:\Windows\system32>chkdsk /x /f /r
The type of the file system is NTFS.
    Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

    Type: Y
    reboot

This may take many hours so plan to run overnight
Find the chkdsk report in the event viewer using the information in this link and post into the thread:
Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials
Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

    4) open administrative command prompt and copy and paste: (repair operating system)
    a) sfc /scannow
    b) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    c) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    5) update windows (have all recommended updates installed) and reboot after updates

    6) uninstall all non-Microsoft antivirus software
(This includes always on and manual software.)
Use the applicable company specific antivirus uninstall tool.

    7) Verify that the drive has > 30 GB free space and preferably 20% free space. (At least 25 GB is needed for creating dumps)

    8) Place the computer in clean boot:

    9) Remove all unused SATA devices (preferably only have 1 drive during the upgrade)

    10) Uninstall non-Microsoft disk encryption software

    11) Run disk cleanup to clean temporary and system files

    12) Create a new bootable Windows 10 iso for the next upgrade attempt:
    Download Windows 10

Microsoft Answer desk support said , just to be clear there is no solution provided to us to clear the problem but to do a clean install or to migrate the system only saving the personal data , to do so you only need to download the windows 10 Iso from this web site Download Windows 10

    • Select Download tool now, and select Run. You need to be an administrator to run this tool.
    • If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
    • On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
    • Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10.
      5. Select which media you want to use: Select ISO
      6. After the installation media is created, you only need to decompress the ISO file and to access to a folder called `Sources` then look for a Setup.exe file launch it , then Choose the second option available and you will be promoted to type the key of windows , just ignore it and click on `` i don`t have a licence key`` , then choose the edition of you present windows home or pro , careful not select Windows s, `` ITS a B.S SYSTEM ``, then after that accept the contract ... and for the last thing to do is to select the second option again Custom install windows only , then choose the partition where Windows is installed then click on next or install , then click on ok .
      - what will happen is that all you files and folders on the drive C will be moved to a folder with the name ``Windows.old`` At the same Drive thats why you need to have some free space on that drive, after the install is completed you can cut and paste them back where they were before .
well thats all , you only need now to reinstall your apps and softwares .
i hope i helped , aaaand this is the only solution, no need to look for the source of the problem cuz no one knows , ah just before i go away , there is no difference between windows 10 v 10.0 or 1511 or 1607 or 1703 or 1709 if you are going to play games ,listen to music and watch movies and navigate on internet ``facebook ....`` i mean do basic things on your computer , there no need to update your system its only a pain in the Axxe , do not expect much from it , just deactivate the Windows update service from Windows services , by doing this , WIN+R then type services.msc then look for Windows update and then right click on it and stop the service and then select disable after that apply and click OK , and Voila .
no more updates and no more problems .
      *Smile
