Windows 10: Photo App Crashes

Anyone know if the Photo App crashing issue is fixed. When I open mine, it crashes and closes soon after.

Windows 10 Photos app doesn't start

When i try to open a photo the photos app opens for a split second and then crashes. i tried restarting windows store cache and reinstalling the photos app.

So I take it that it's a known issue with no fix? I found a few posts in other forums with no real solution. Thanks

 

Other than seeing if re-registering it may help, you could try uninstalling the "Photos" app, and reinstalling it "Microsoft Photos" from the Store.

 

Nope still does it, still haven't found anything that works.

Then I go to 'Store' to reinstall Windows Photos app.

The latest Microsoft update on 8/28/2015 fixed the crashing problem.

 

Not for me. Just started having the issue today. I think I uninstalled Photos by following the guide linked here. But when I went to the Store to reinstall, it said Photos was installed. So not sure what I did wrong. But I must have uninstalled something as when I double click on a photo, Windows Photo Viewer opens the picture. Photo viewer is easier to work with anyway, as it's easier to print, email, etc. pictures.

 

It didn't help me. I just started having the problem today. All Windows updates are installed.

 

Just started happening to me today. Last time it worked it prompted me to sign in with my windows account and password, which I did. It told me my password wasn't recognized (huh?) but that I could just sign into the app itself, which I did. At which point it crashed and now continues to crash every time I try to open it. Any ideas?

 

Yeah, I'm still having the problem as well. Bet it's tied into the MS account somehow. When I went to the Apps & Features in settings, the two choices for Photos, Move and Uninstall, are greyed out. I can't select either one of them. So something is up. the The Windows Store says the app is installed but I can't open it from there either as it crashes almost immediately.

 

Not being smart here but why is this thread marked as solved?

 

OK, I tried this, and it worked! I used option 2, suboption 3. Photos is now working as it should...(it's still a crappy app, but it's working).
