Photo viewer out of the blue..

I like Windows Photo Viewer and this impostor has taken over my machine. It probably came from a recent "Upgrade?". Now when I click on the lower left window. I get an also black window.

So I have two questions how do I get ride of this unwanted program that was made the default view, which means extra step to review an image.

Second how do I get back the white window for general information, like getting to the Control Panel?

I can not figure out how to keep the image from being posted twice

    :)

Windows 10 Photo Viewer - SLOW - SLOW - SLOW

My Windows 10 (and Windows Photo Viewer) was running fine for the past 10 months until the late Sept 2016 updates. Then "poof" - welcome to SLOW, SLOW Photo Viewer. Thanks Windows 10 update. Several people have suggested fixes in the registry under:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Photo Viewer\Viewer

    or

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live\ Photo Viewer\Viewer

The problem is that I have NO folder named "Windows Photo Viewer" or "Windows Live" or their sub-folders. So I have to assume that the Windows 10 update wiped them out.

So I can tinker with the registry (risky) or find another default photo viewer. Or maybe it is time to become an Apple user.

Windows Photo Viewer isn't included in Windows 10, but if you upgraded from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, your PC might still have it. To find out, press and hold (or right-click) a photo in File Explorer, select
Open with, and look for Windows Photo Viewer in the list. If it isn't there, it cannot be installed on Windows 10.

    • The best way to view photos in Windows 10 is in the Photos app, which does everything the old Windows Photo Viewer did, and more.

Thank you, I guess I'm not the only one with this issue.

Am I stuck with the black windows for general things like right clicking the windows icon in the task bar?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!!!!!!!!

I tried Start, Taskbar... and either missed something or misunderstood. Now have a red task bar but the pop up window to get to the control panel is still black. I just got called to Christmas duty. I'll try again later to day...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Taskbar and Start Menu right click context menu's will be a default charcoal grey, all others will be white by default.
Only way to modify them safely is with the use of High Contrast Themes.
