  1. Pin This PC to TaskBar

    Hi,

    Windows 10

Does anyone know how to pin This PC to TaskBar.

A simple operation, however, i will explain as follows:

I have two pc's and both running Windows 10

    On first pc:
I somehow managed to get This PC in the start menu as seen here http://s10.postimg.org/r4rz0fxft/607.png and then I proceed to right click the This PC from the start menu to pin to TaskBar and did so without any issues, since there was a 'pin to taskbar' available. Thus now that I have pinned this to the taskbar and on viewing the icon in taskbar it is the same icon as that of what the image in start menu looks like, a blue desktop window computer.

In any case, when clicking on the blue icon on taskbar, a yellow folder opens which is the 'This PC' and however opens at the far right end of my taskbar icons. Thus i can press the blue icon repeatedly and another folder 'This PC' opens in the same place as the first yellow one opened. Which is all fine and the way i want it, however the following is strange:

    Second pc:
    1) I open This PC and right click on the left side in the list named This PC and i select pin to start.
    2) I then proceed to right click the blue icon This PC from the start menu so as to pin to TaskBar as i did with the first pc, however there is no pin to taskbar.

I appreciate some help on this, as I am banging my head trying to recreate this on the second PC, I can't remember how I did it the first time, as explained above of the first PC.

    :)

  2. Pinned items on taskbar suddenly not visible

    Hello Anoop,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Regret the inconvenience you have experienced.

Did you made any changes to your PC?

Did see any Windows Updates installed recently?

Did you check the issue by restarting your PC?

Usually the issue will be fixed by restarting your PC, post complete shutdown. If it doesn't try to remove the
pinned app from the taskbar and Pin them back to the taskbar to see if they help.
To remove a pinned app from the taskbar, open the app's Jump List (I.e. Right-click on it), and then tap or click Unpin this program from taskbar.

To pin apps to the taskbar:

    • Press or click Windows Key, right-click the desired app from the Start Menu, and then tap or click
Pin to taskbar (you can also do this in the Apps view).
    - Or –

    • If the app is already open on the desktop, press and hold or right-click the app's taskbar button, and then tap or click
      Pin this program to taskbar.

If the problem still persist, please get back with the error screenshot along with the above information, to guide you accordingly.

  3. WMDC

I think you want to pin WMDC to the taskbar, right? If that is so, click the Start menu > All programs. Right click WMDC and select Pin to Taskbar.

Hello simplelife, and welcome to Ten Forums. *Smile

If you like, you can set File Explorer to open to "This PC" by default instead of "Quick access". This way you can use the default existing File Explorer icon on the taskbar, and have it open to "This PC".

In addition, here's a "This PC" shortcut that you could create to "Pin to taskbar", and/or use where you like.

Your shortcut doesn't give the 'Manage', 'Map Network Drive', etc., items in the Shift/right click menu.

    Pin This PC to TaskBar

Yeah, it's really weird but I found a convoluted way of doing it.
I enabled the default 'My Computer' desktop icon, pinned it to Start twice then unpinned it; that left 1 link left in AppData/Start/Programs which revealed itself in the All Apps list, from there I could pin it to the Taskbar!
