Windows 10: Unusual Message at Startup

This seems to imply that each time you reboot your PC, chkdsk is scheduled, and runs successfully, clearing the dirty bit.

In my previous post I gave a number of other steps to follow. I repeat them here for you:

Try this - which should confirm chkdsk ran successfully
Post the result of running chkdsk at boot which you can get after a restart as follows:

Make sure the result is clear or fixed- else do not proceed.

and inspect the report generated to see what it says about your disk.

Also, check your physical disk:
Download install and run Hard Disk Sentinel (trial)
Post a screenshot of its GUI.

I went ahead and reset my computer yesterday. That message still appears, but there seems to be no other problems. I tried to take a picture of the message, but my camera's battery died. I'll try again in the future, or hand copy it if it stays on the screen long enough. You guys have been awesome with your assistance! *Smile

I'm sure I did it correctly, but the message still appears. I think that could mean my HDD is on the way out. correct?

 

chkdsk checks the integrity of your NTFS file system.

The program checks the state of your hard disk.

They do quite different things. They are not alternatives.

The point of that information is simply to get the result of chkdsk running at boot.

Still we don't know the outcome of running chkdsk (fail? pass) and still I see no screenshot of Hard Disk Sentinel (trial)

The message appears shortly after signing in at the 1st screen. BTW, I installed a program from Seagate that checks the hard drive. I ran a test nd it appears my HDD is OK.

Try doing that.

Dalchina, I used a program from Seagate to check the HDD. The results indicated it was good. I'm just gonna forget about the whole thing and just hope for the best. My stuff is pretty well backed up in case the HDD takes a dive.Thank you and also thanks to all who responded. *Smile

 

I would try the two suggestions that I stated after you posted the picture! Try them out before giving up on it! One of those methods could most likely work!!!

 

Thanks, Pepanee. I don't think I want to delve any deeper. The computer is running fine otherwise and I don't want to chance messing anything up. i'm not yet an expert like you guys, but I enjoy learning. Maybe in the future I'll feel braver, or when I purchase a new machine, I can fool around with this one. Thanks again to all.

BTW Pepanee, I did try one suggestion that directed me to make a change in the registry. I proceeded with caution and made the change, but the message on the screen is still there. I'm fearful of going any further, especilly if it means delving into the registry. *Wink

And yes, I understand that editing the Registry may make you feel a bit uncomfortable, and that is completely okay! I just hope that this thing doesn't appear anymore for you. I don't want you stressing out about how to get rid of it, hoping that it got rid of itself =)
