Windows 10: Update delivery option keeps turning to default

I can't turn off update delivery optimization, it keeps reseting to on everytime i restart pc

this is the option in update & security > windows update > advanced options > choose how updates are delivered

I don't know the menu layout of the 301, but my C3 has the option to keep the delivery reports embedded which does not show a note, but the delivery status can be checked by looking into the Message Details.

However, my 311 only has the option to either turn off the delivery reports or else get that full screen note. I don't text much so certainly not a thing to disturb me. If your phone does not have the option to keep the delivery reports embedded (Messages>
Settings> General or Text Messages> Delivery), you need to turn of the delivery reports. No other way than that.

In that case, you might set it to PCs on my local network for now to avoid the internet option. That is if that doesn't get reset as well. *Sad

 

Do you have your PC's settings sync'd with OneDrive in settings app>Accounts? You could try turning it off and see if Update Delivery Option changes after a couple of boots. If it doesn't, go to OneDrive and delete your PC's sync, then turn it back on(if you wish) in settings.

 

yes unfortunately that does reset as well

onedrive is turned off and i never made account for it

i found out that this is much bigger problem than just this, for some reason i dont have rights to change a bunch of stuff even though im administrator, i need to disable UAC and only then i can change it, i upgraded to win10 from win7

 

Are you signed in to the built-in Administrator account by chance?

If so, then that could be why since the modern UI will not work well in an elevated account like that one.

 

If your account name is "Administrator", then that would be the built-in Administrator account.

Otherwise, you would be signed in to a standard user or normal administrator type account.

turns out amd cleanup utility is what messed things up

i looked under services and it looked like this:




you need to go to regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MUI

Now right click on the MUI key and select New -> Key. Name the newly created key as StringCacheSettings. In the right pane of this newly created key, create a new DWORD value, name it as StringCacheGeneration. Double click this newly created DWORD to modify its Value data.

In the above shown box, type the Value data as 38b. Make sure you have selected Hexadecimal base here. Click OK. You may now close the Registry Editor and reboot to get fixed up

so bottom line, dont use amd cleanup utility on windows 10
