Brink,I finally managed to install Build 17063 from a DVD I created from the .iso file you gave me a link to. One apparent hitch occurred when I got to the screen asking for my location and phone number. I entered the location and my mobile number and got a text message giving a link to download my "first app". That was useless for me as my mobile is not a smartphone. However, really with nothing concrete in mind I clicked randomly around the bottom right hand side of the screen and finally a lucky click movd me on to the next screen. Why don't Microsoft place a skip button on the screen asking for location and phone number? Apart from that I had problems reinstalling 2 or 3 programs which require Net Framework 3.5 to be installed, and I couldn't find a valid link for that. Could you please give me a valid download link for it?

.NET Framework 3.5 is included in Windows 10 via Windows Features. You'll need to turn it on though.

Brink, I tried to download Net Framework 3.5 from the turn Windows Features on or off window but got error code 0x800F081F. I understand that I have to use the command DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All but what else do I have to add to the command? I also understand that I need to have my Windows 10 installation DVD in my DVD drive.

If you haven't already, see if this below may help starting with step 2 using the ISO file you downloaded from me.

Brink, are you saying I need to use the Media Creation Tool to create an .iso file, or can I use the Build 17063 DVD you sent me the link to, and if so how?

No need to do step 1 since you already have the ISO.

You can use the DVD or mount the ISO file, then pick up at step 2.

Brink thanks but firstly if I do a repair install will it affect the security and compatibility settings for my Program files including the Program files x 86? Secondly I have just successfully updated my system to Build 17074, and I assume a repair install would revert to Build 17063.

Isn't there another way to install Net Framework 3.5? Could you please reply to my post #92.

You could technically do a repair install since they are the same version despite the DVD being an older build of the version. Security and compatibility settings would most likely be set back to default though.

We can try running the DISM command in step 5 Option 1 below to see if it can repair the image, and be able to turn on .NET Framework afterwards.

Brink, I used the DISM command in step 5 Option 1 and it completed successfully. For good measure I ran the sfc /scannow command and it found no integrity violations. I then used the search program called Everything (which is far faster than Windows Search) to look for Net Framework 3.5. It found installers I had tried before without success but also found a Microsoft setup installer-I ran that as an administrator and it succeeded in downloading and installing Net Framework 3.5!! I can send you the installer if you like, but in any case thanks for all your help.
