Windows 10: Windows Defender Settings will not show up

I'm running windows 10 newest version as far as I know and I can't figure this out no matter where I look

Windows Defender is on but after reboots its brick wall icon does not show up in the area reserved for ^show hidden icons

Original Title: Windows Defender -- Is it active?

According to Settings Windows Defender is on but after reboots its brick wall icon does not show up in the area reserved for ^show hidden icons. Is Windows Defender actually on immediately after reboots or when the computer is powered back up after being
turned off even if its Icon is not displayed when the ^show hidden icons is selected?

The Defender Icon does show up and then resides as a hidden Icon if I manually go to settings and select the "use Windows Defender" selection.

 

Why do I have two windows defender?

In the settings neither show up, and in start Windows Defender Security Center shows up, (the newer one) however no option is given to uninstall when right clicked on.

 

Perhaps if you search up Windows defender in search

Windows Defender settings are in the Windows Defender Security Center now. Clicking on the Open Windows Defender Security Center button in your screenshot will take you to them.

Thanks for your fast reply! Although I can't find the Windows defender security Center page on the App menu as your link in the post shows. But that is definitely the page I need to get to so if there is something I may be doing wrong please let me know. Thanks!

Edit* I would also like to add that I can get to the Windows Defender page but I cannot get to the settings page (Main reason I want to do this is to turn it off and on when I use other anti virus software or want to download a file that may be considered harmful by the software) I've tried all sorts of ways to turn it off but none have worked windows defender keeps on deleting my files. The settings page on this link is where I need to go I'm having trouble getting there. Open Windows Defender Security Center in Windows 10 Windows 10 Security System Tutorials if there are any other ways to access the page that would help me out a ton thanks!

 

As a test, see if you are able to open Windows Defender Security Center using the shortcut for it from the tutorial below.

I was brought to here (which ive had access to the whole time but my goal is finding the settings tab to turn it off and on) Oh and to mention when I click the settings button on the top right it brings me back to the first picture I posted on this thread

Have you tried the following PowerShell Commands ?

Turn On or Off Windows Defender Real-time Protection in Windows 10 Windows 10 Security System Tutorials

Open PowerShell as Admin
Turn WD Off
Set-MpPreference -DisableRealtimeMonitoring $true
Turn WD On
Set-MpPreference -DisableRealtimeMonitoring $false

 

Build 15063.413

 

You might see if updating to the latest 15063.447 build via Windows Update may help sort this to be able to open the Windows Defender Security Center.
