Windows 10: Freezing when playing games

nvidia drivers cleaned and latest installed. Avira deleted.

Freeze in game. No BSODs until welcome screen. 2nd freeze after being logged in

Please try the following:

• Open taskmanager
  • Go to the tab startup
  • disable everything
• Search msconfig and open it
  • Go to the tab services
  • Check 'hide microsoft services'
  • Uncheck all other services
  • Click apply and click ok
• Reboot if asked

See if the problem persist, if the problem does not persist enable in the startup tab in taskmanager 1 item and in the services tab in msconfig also 1 service, reboot and see if the problem persist. Keep doing this until you find the culprit or there is nothing left.
If the problem still persist, try booting in safe mode and see if the problem still persist

 

apologies for the delay. I bleaned everything out and had a couple of sucessful sessions at a friends office (2 x 4 hours sessions with no freezes). Came home and froze again, BSOD kept repeating until I manually forced off and turned back on again a few mins later. I disabled everything you asked in taskmanager and msconfig and I again froze. Can I play games in safe mode?

I was thinking maybe it is an overheating issue? My friends office is a lot cooler than my flat which is on average 24 degrees celcius ambiant temp

3 main differences at my friends office:

- Ambiant temp is about 18 deg C
- I'm connected to the internet via the wifi pci card rather than ethernet
- I'm using a different screen (connected via DVI cable)

 

You can't play games in safe mode, because in safe mode there is a minimum of stuff used.

Try playing games with the wifi card instead of ethernet and see how it goes.

 

As it only crashes during games I wont be able to replicate it during safe mode.

Crash during game when on wifi, didn't freeze but went straight to BSOD with a new error Attachment 45204message

 

The error is 0x124 WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (Windows Hardware Error Architecture)
This means that there are problems with your hardware, but this error is also caused by overclocking, faulty drivers or BIOS problems.

Note



MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking forzero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Run FurMark - GPU Stress Test - Windows 10 Forums



Note Run Furmark for around 30 minutes.


Warning Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if overheating occurs.

The problem:

Not sure if it has been overclocked, I bought the computer from someone else so not sure what they did to it. I just did a fresh install of the os once I had it. Here is a photo of the bios front page if you can tell anything from that?

so tried running prime95. Both times the system froze within a minute. Didn't see the temp the first time but the last time it was about 40 degrees C. No BSOD so no logs available.

 

Was any other software in the background running besides of the temperature monitor software?
