Windows 10: Internet Explorer 11 Desktop Icon

First of all, I have to thank you both as you have been very patient with me.
Unfortunately I have tried and it didn't work, again!
I open my registry and have seen that there was, in -HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\, two times the key {871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30301D}.
I merged several times the reg to remove the icon, but one of the keys remain there.
It is missing the shell command to Start InPrivate Browsing!
I don't know what to do and if that key should be there.

Yes, the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30301D} key is suppose to be there.

Step 1 enables to be able to add the IE desktop icon, by making sure the key above is there and has the proper registry entries.

Step 2 is the one that adds the IE desktop icon to your desktop. Do you have the registry entries for it after merging it?

I have merged the files before the print screen and get no Icon on desktop.

I'm at a loss for why it's not working for you. I suppose for now you can "Pin to taskbar" Internet Explorer like in the tutorial below to have these options when you right click on it's taskbar icon.

I already have IE 11 pinned to the taskbar;
Checked the desktop icons, that were enable, removed the tick sign and they hide and vice-versa.
I use a lot the IE desktop icon to clean the historic, etc, otherwise I have to open it and go to internet options to clean it or check everything to clean it on exit, but I prefer the first one.

I was thinking about this issue and to despite the problem, I remembered:
I upgrade from Windows 7 Pro (64 bits) to Windows 10 Pro (64 bits);
I had, in Windows 7, the IE 11 icon on my desktop;
At the end of the upgrade, all the icons were migrated from my old profile in Windows 7 to my Windows 10 profile, except the Media Center Icon, once it is not supported in Windows 10.
One of the migrated icons was a white rectangle with no name, which I suppose it was IE11 icon, but I have deleted.
Could this be the problem, once I already had the IE icon on Windows 7?

 

I wouldn't think that would be the issue. Deleting a desktop icon would just remove it, but you would still be able to add it back later if wanted.

The only thing I can think of is that it's some unknown issue from it being an upgrade installation. It's not uncommon for some strange issues to popup in an upgrade installation.

Unfortunately, the only way to test that theory is to do a clean install. *Sad

I don't think a IE desktop icon issue is worth doing a clean install over though.

I do completely agree with you, a simple icon do not worth a clean installation.
Yesterday, I got confused with one thing. Can you, as an expert, answer:
It is supposed, after merging your reg file, to get 2 keys (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30301D}) with, basically, the same information?
As you, for sure, noticed in the print screens, there are 2 of those keys, but one of them is missing the shell command to Start InPrivate Navigation.
Isn't there the problem?

Expand that pane to be wider to see the end of each GUID. There's gotta be a difference between them. Otherwise, it shouldn't be listed twice.

When I use your reg file to add the IE Icon it add one key. Removing the IE icon, removes one key:

I cannot insert the image!

The other is HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D} - Internet Folder
