Keyboard Shortcuts List for Microsoft Edge


Information Microsoft Edge is a new web browser that is available across the Windows 10 device family. It is designed for Windows 10 to be faster, safer, and compatible with the modern Web.

Keyboard shortcuts are combinations of two or more keys that perform a task that would typically require a mouse or other pointing device. Keyboard shortcuts can save you time and effort as you use Windows and other apps.

This tutorial will show a list of keyboard shortcuts that can be used for the Microsoft Edge web browser in Windows 10.



Note Since there is not an official list of shortcuts by Microsoft yet, this will be a list of shortcuts that I and anyone that posted has found so far until then. This tutorial will be kept updated.

Permanent onscreen keys on a tablet?

Hi,

It is unclear from your question what you are trying to do? Which keys/keyboard shortcuts....

MS Edge does not have any keyboard shortcuts. A programmer perhaps could write an extension for Edge to customize user keyboard shortcuts.

Yeah, it seems that most of the keyboard shortcuts for IE11 are the same in Edge so far.

Currently the Favorites bar can only be turned on or off as needed. I don't see an option to just have it show temporarily until clicking on a link.

Does the <ctrl> left-mouse-click combination work in Edge the same as in IE?

For example, if I'm at a web page that has a link on the page and I want to open that link on another tab, I use the <ctrl> left-click combination (clicking on the link) and that opens the link in a new tab.

 

Yep, that still works as well. *Smile

 

You can also simply wheel click, or middle click the link, but in Spartan, it won't switch to the clicked link as in IE.

Thanks for the info. Good to know. I have the right-hand keyboard keypad set up for mouse controls so I hold down the <ctrl> key and press the 5 key (left click).

Does the <alt> HOME key combo launch the Edge Home page? For example, with IE11, if I press <alt> HOME, IE will launch my home browser tab.

Nope. ALT+Home doesn't do anything in Project Spartan so far.

LOL at myself. I found using a lot of the IE keyboard shortcuts worked in Edge, but struggling on some new UI features, e.g. the hidden address box. I thought there should be a keyboard shortcut for that, so I do a Bing search a lo and behold I find our man Brink has one in the Tutorial section. Should've known to look here first!

While you're here you may want to change Spartan to Edge now in ALT + Spacebar + C.

Concerning Ctrl/F (find on page), Esc (escape) key closes it when active. Ctrl/F refocuses it if not active and highlights input to continue with same search, change search input, or to close with Esc key.
