How to Run Blue Screen Error (BSOD) Troubleshooter in Windows 10


Information A blue screen error (also called a stop error) can occur if a problem causes your PC to shut down or restart unexpectedly. When you experience this type of error, you won’t be able to see things like the Start menu or the taskbar on the screen when your PC is turned on. Instead you might see a blue screen with a message that your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart.

This tutorial will show you how to run the Blue Screen (BSOD) troubleshooter to troubleshoot errors that cause Windows 10 to stop or restart unexpectedly.



Note The Blue Screen (BSOD) troubleshooter interprets the bugcheck codes, and tells you if the blue screen crash was caused by:

• Faulty hardware
• Failing disk drive
• Malware
• Memory failure
• Services
• Device drivers

OPTION ONE [/i] To Use "Troubleshoot blue screen errors" at Microsoft
1. Go to the Troubleshoot blue screen errors webpage at Microsoft.

2. Follow the steps to answer questions to troubleshoot your blue screen error. (see screenshots below)

OPTION TWO [/i] To Use Blue Screen Troubleshooter in Windows 10
1. Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click/tap on the Troubleshooting icon.

2. Click/tap on the View all link at the top left in Troubleshooting. (see screenshot below)



3. Right click or press and hold on the Blue Screen troubleshooter, and click/tap on Run as administrator. (see screenshot below)



4. Click/tap on the Advanced link. (see screenshot below)



5. Check the Apply repairs automatically box, and click/tap on Next. (see screenshot below)



6. The troubleshooter will now start detecting problems you may have with blue screen errors.

7. If problems were identified, then follow any given instructions to continue troubleshooting.

8. If no problems were identified, then you could click/tap on View detailed information to see the troubleshooting report. (see screenshots below)

Repeated BSODs, etc.

Now that the BSOD's have been reduced in frequency, can you identify any sort of pattern? Are they occurring when you run a particular program or anything of that sort? Also, it may be easier to run that BSOD troubleshooter Alden provided.

BSODs are triggered when there's a hardware breakdown, device driver failures, power supply fluctuations, incompatible applications and more. Run the
Blue Screen Error Troubleshooter as an initial step in repairing the BSOD error.

We'll keep an eye out for your update.

 

That's too bad, after forcing a BSOD I get the message that no issue was detected....
I didn't expect much, because this is in the begin fase, but I did expect the troubleshooter to at least detect that a BSOD had occured.

What would be nice if it just gernerated a log with the information needed ,and automatically placed it in the downloads folder.
I say downloads, because of users like me that hide their desktop icons, and wouldn't notice it was created.
If it went to the downloads folder, it could then ask the user what he wants to do with it, save or save as...etc.
