This feature was implemented in Chromium a long time ago and now Microsoft has added the necessary flag to enable it in Edge Canary (80.0.317.1):

    Flag.

This flag doesn't interfere with those sites that use their own dark mode and if you already use an extension to apply the dark mode to all pages, for example Dark Reader (I have used it for years), this flag respects the settings of that extension.

I think the main advantage of this flag is that it applies the dark mode to those sites where extensions like Dark Reader have no effect, one of them is the Chrome Web store.

    CWS.

I still prefer the colors that Dark Reader applies to websites, so I will continue using that extension along with the flag.

    Edge Canary

Hi, I’m Virginia an independent advisor.

As Edge Canary is still in development it may be wise to mark this as a bug or request this feature for a future update.

Windows key + F will open the feedback app.

  3. Enable or Disable Web Content on New Tab Page in Microsoft Edge in Local Group Policy Editor

How to Enable or Disable Web Content on New Tab Page in Microsoft Edge in Windows 10

Microsoft Edge is a new web browser that is available across the Windows 10 device family. It is designed for Windows 10 to be faster, safer, and compatible with the modern Web.

By default, users can select to have the New Tab page open with top sites, top sites and suggested content, or a blank page in Microsoft Edge.

You can use the Allow web content on New Tab page group policy to enable or disable web content on the New Tab page in Microsoft Edge.

Disabling this policy loads a blank page instead of the New tab page and prevents users from changing it.

This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable web content on the New Tab page in Microsoft Edge for all users in Windows 10.

*Warning You must be signed in as an administrator to enable or disable web content on the New Tab page in Microsoft Edge.
