Thanks, waiting a month sounds like a good idea.

If they get rid of Windows, are they going to 'sell' software like virus protection....you download the software and it is good for a year, then you have to renew ?

Windows isn't going anywhere. It will be around for a long time. Will they go to a subscription model? So far I haven't heard that but I guess the could do that sometime in the future. However, only time will tell.

  3. I read your post and agree with a lot of it. And it makes me more and more glad that I stuck with Windows 8 RTM. None of these apps to keep deleting (I rid of all the Metro apps at the start), and I have no telemetry issues to worry about. Plus, if I wanted to install it on new hardware and CPU types, there are no updates blocked (since I have to manually install them from Server 2012 RTM). I'm in a good place right now where Windows is concerned.

I saw that on Tom's Hardware too. Like you, I do not want to have fix all of my privacy settings. As for the ebook reader, I think that will be coming at some point. I may be wrong here but I "think" it is supposed to come later this year. Brink will probably know. What’s new in the Windows 10 Creators Update :)

Excellent, you'll never regret it. A lot of peace of mind when you know you can always recover from a problem.
Perform regular backups. I do mine once a week. Also backup right before doing any upgrade.

A Special THANKS to Ztruker for the great advice. .

Here are all of the steps I took before installing the Creators Update:

    1) Made a Recovery Drive on USB
    2) Copied they entire User file to the external hard drive
    3) Created a system image using Macrium.
    4) Saved the Intel graphics driver to the external hard drive (paranoid after losing my old system)
    5) Ran a search as follows: Dell XPS 8910 Creators Update. The results brought up a large list of the computers Dell has tested and determined to be compatible. You might want to check other manufacturers as well.
    6) Ran the Update using the "get it now" option
    7) Microsoft also ran a compatibility update. How about that? I was so happy!
    8) Installed the Creators Update and it ran smooth as silk. I will use that same method to install new builds from now on.
    9) This update allows us to turn off Cortana. Love it! But she is still there under search so will need to fix that later.
    10) If you are unhappy, you can go back to the previous version.
    11) Create a new Recovery Drive on USB

My computer is now fully updated with no problems. Yay!! Hope this info helps those of you who have not yet gotten the latest build.

  10. While opening a new PDF file I used "open with" and saw "Drawboard PDF" as an option. I'm pretty sure I've never seen that app before so I assume it came with the Creator's Update.

Clicking on it it says my trial period has expired but I'm welcome to purchase it from the store. Not really wanting another PDF apt, especially one I have to buy I tried to uninstall it but found it's not listed in programs that I can uninstall or change in the control panel. Anyone know what's going on with this app?

It is a Windows Store app so you can uninstall it using Programs and Features. I use Nitro PDF here - free.

Cameochi, it is not listed in Programs and Features. Any other ideas?

Open Settings > System > Apps and Features, you can uninstall applications on this screen. Including those from the MS Store

edit: I just checked and not all Apps can be uninstalled, Xbox is one, the uninstall option is subdued. As with all things MS, Your Mileage May Vary

I was able to remove XBox but I forget how I did it. It didn't reinstall with this new build either. You might try GHacks or Windows Club as I hang out on those a lot. The other possibility is that I used Power Shell (run as admin).
