Action options limited for Low and Critical Battery Level (under advanced settings)

    ASUS EeeBook X205TA

Windows 10 Home (32 bit operating system, x64-based processor)

    Version: 1703

    OS Build: 15063.413

I am trying to change the Critical Battery Action and Low Battery Action settings through Power Options - Advanced Settings for two power plans I created and the original default 'Balanced' plan.

In all cases, for Critical Battery Action the option is only to Shut Down on battery or Shut Down or Do Nothing on plugged in. For Low Battery Action, the options on battery and plugged are either Shut Down or Do Nothing i.e. the option to sleep/hibernate
is not available under any drop down lists. I would ideally like to implement the sleep function certain Critical/Low Battery situations.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  3. Laptop no longer hibernates on critical power

    Hi Mike,

The laptop's battery is possibly wearing out. Since you haven't change any settings, we suggest that you change the critical battery level a bit higher so that your laptop can perform a hibernation on a much higher percentage than the default. Follow the
    steps below:

    • Type Power Options on the Start menu search bar.
    • Under Battery, click on Critical battery level.
    • Chang the default percentage to 10% or higher.
    • Click on Apply.

    Looking forward to your response.

  5. Does Windows 10 Pro require additional software to shutdown correctly on power outages?

    Hi Allen,

If after changing the plan settings, the new percentage level or the critical battery action you chose doesn’t save, it's possible that this is due to the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) software that manages power settings.

To allow you to change the critical battery percentage level or the critical battery action, we suggest that you follow these steps:

    • Press Windows key + X on your keyboard, and click
      Control Panel.
    • Choose Programs and locate the OEM Power Management system your computer has installed.
Note: The power management system your PC is running, if any, will depend on the manufacturer of your machine. Search the installed programs for anything that includes the manufacturer name of your PC,
and the words power manager or battery manager.

    • Click Uninstall a program. You will be presented with a window that contains all installed programs on your computer.
    • Reboot your computer.
    • Configure your Windows 10 Power Options once again and see if the issue persists.

Let us know how it turns out.

WIndows 10 v1607 - no low battery warning

    Hi Ujjawal,

Follow the steps below and check If you are able to get low battery notification.

Change Critical & Low Level Battery Action.

    • To change the Critical and Low Level action for the battery for any Power Plan, you will have to open
Power Options in the Control Panel > Change Plan Settings >
Change Advanced Power Settings. In the box which opens, navigate down to the last item, i.e.
      Battery.
    • Here for each plan, you can configure and set WHAT your Windows should do, after its battery level drops below certain levels. The options for “while On Battery and “while Plugged In” are:
    • Low battery action: Do nothing, Sleep, Hibernate, Shutdown
    • Critical battery action: Sleep, Hibernate, Shutdown
    • The default for the first is Do nothing and for the second one is
Hibernate. You can change it to suit your requirements.

Do let us know the status. Thank you.
