    How to Change Country or Region Home Location in Windows 10


    The country or region home location in Windows, referred to as geographic location (GeoID), indicates the country or region that you are in. Some software, including Windows, may provide you with additional content for a particular location. Some services provide you with local information such as news and weather.

    If you move or go to a different country or region, you may want to change your home location (GeoID). You can switch back to your original country or region at any time.

    This tutorial will show you different ways on how to change the country or region home location for your account in Windows 10.

    OPTION ONE [/i] To Change Your Country or Region Home Location in Settings
    1. Open Settings, and click/tap on the Time & language icon.

    2. Click/tap on Region on the left side, select your Country or region (ex: United States) in the drop menu on the right side. (see screenshot below)

    3. You can now close Settings if you like.

    OPTION TWO [/i] To Change Your Country or Region Home Location in Control Panel
    *note This option is no longer available starting with at least Windows 10 version 1809 and higher.
    1. Open the Control Panel (icons view), click/tap on the Region icon, and close the Control Panel if you like.

    2. Click/tap on the Location tab, select your Home location (ex: United States), and click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below)

    OPTION THREE [/i] To Change Your Country or Region Home Location in Registry Editor
    1. Press the Win+R keys to open Run, type regedit, and click/tap on OK to open Registry Editor.

    2. Navigate to the key below in the left pane of Registry Editor. (see screenshot below)

    3. In the right pane of the Geo key, double click/tap on the Nation string value to modify it. (see screenshot above)

    Hi,

    Changing the location of your Windows 10 device is possible. Follow these steps to change the location information on Windows 10:

    • Go to Control Panel.
    • Click on Clock, Language, and Region and then select Region.
    • Click on Location tab.
    • Under the Home location, click the drop-down button and then choose your location.
    • Click on Apply button and then click OK.

    Note: Changing the location in Windows 10 is limited to changing which country or region you are in.

    • Where did you see your location as Vermont USA? How did you tried to change the location?

    • Are you getting any error messages while changing the location?

    • What is the build version of the Windows? Follow the below steps to check the build version.

    • Open up the run command with the
      Win key + R key combo.

    • Type winver into the run command text box and hit
      OK.

    • You should now see a dialog screen revealing the OS build and registration information.

    I suggest you to ON the location service and check if the location is changed to your current location. If the location service is ON, the Windows will automatically find your location once the system in connected to internet and update
    the location on the Apps, which has the permission to access to the location. Refer to the below link to ON the location service and more.

    Are you moving or just visiting? Is it a temporary change or permanent?
