    Information You can keep track of the websites you visit frequently by storing them as bookmarks in Firefox. The bookmarks toolbar in Firefox can also be used to add your favorite websites you visit frequently on to make opening them faster and more convenient.

    This tutorial will show you how to import favorites from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox bookmarks for your account in Windows 10.


    CONTENTS:

    OPTION ONE [/i] To Import Everything from Internet Explorer to Firefox using Import Wizard

    Note This option is to be able to import Internet Options, cookies, browsing history, and favorites from Internet Explorer to Firefox.


    1. Open Mozilla Firefox.

    2. In Firefox, click/tap on the Library icon in the toolbar, and click/tap on Bookmarks. (see screenshot below)

    3. Click/tap on Show All Bookmarks (Ctrl+Shift+B). (see screenshot below)

    4. In the Library, select All Bookmarks in the left pane, click on the Import and Backup toolbar button, then click/tap on Import Data from Another Browser. (see screenshot below)

    5. Select (dot) Microsoft Internet Explorer, and click/tap on Next. (see screenshot below)

    6. Check and uncheck the items you want to import from Internet Explorer to Firefox, and click/tap on Next. (see screenshot below)

    Note You will not see this if this is the first time running Firefox after installing or resetting to default.

    7. The Internet Options, cookies, browsing history, and favorites from Internet Explorer will now be imported to Firefox. When the Import Wizard is finished, click/tap on Finish. (see screenshots below)

    8. You can now close the Firefox Library and Firefox if you like.





    OPTION TWO [/i] To Import Favorites from Internet Explorer to Firefox using HTML file
    1. Open Internet Explorer.

    2. Click/tap on File (menu bar), and click/tap on Import and export. (see screenshot below)

    3. Select (dot) Export to a file, and click/tap on Next. (see screenshot below)[

    4. Check Favorites and anything else you would like to export from Internet Explorer, and click/tap on Next. (see screenshot below)[

    5. Select the Favorites folder, and click/tap on Next. (see screenshot below)[

    6. Click/tap on Browse. (see screenshot below)

    7. Browse to where (ex: Desktop) you want to save the .htm file at as your exported Internet Explorer favorites, and click/tap on Save. (see screenshot below)

    8. Click/tap on Export. (see screenshot below)

    10. You can now close Internet Explorer if you like.

    11. Open Mozilla Firefox.

    12. In Firefox, click/tap on the Library icon in the toolbar, and click/tap on Bookmarks. (see screenshot below)

    13. Click/tap on Show All Bookmarks (Ctrl+Shift+B). (see screenshot below)

    14. In the Library, select All Bookmarks in the left pane, click on the Import and Backup toolbar button, then click/tap on Import Bookmarks from HTML. (see screenshot below)

    15. Browse to where (ex: Desktop) you saved the .htm file from step 7, and click/tap on Open. (see screenshot below)

    16. Your Internet Explorer favorites have now been imported into your Firefox bookmarks.

    17. You can now close the Firefox Library and Firefox if you like.

    I lost all my favorites; those imported from Firefox and from Internet Explorer.

    I do appreciate your efforts and time, and will assist you with the issue.

    Favorites are shared between Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer for the desktop, so you can view, add to, and organize your favorites from both the address bar and the traditional favorites list in Internet Explorer for the desktop.

    To import favorites from IE, I suggest you to try the steps provided in the link below.

    Can't Import Internet Explorer Favorites into Edge

    Vardhaman,

    I'm having the same problem importing favorites from Internet Explorer. Your answer totally ignores his question.

    "Please make sure you are following correct steps to import favorites."

    • Select More actions (...) > Settings.
      (STOP: At this point EDGE says: ""couldn't import favorites", so we CANNOT GO TO STEP 2)
    • Select Import favorites from another browser and choose from the list.
    • To see your favorites, select Hub > Favorites.

    Importing Internet Explorer favorites into Internet Explorer 11, or Edge, or Chrome, or Firefox

    My previous laptop crashed a few months back. We were able to do a data aquisition and get everything off the harddrive. All of my Internet Explorer favorites are saved as .url files under a folder named "Favorites" and under subfolders I created in Internet
    Explorer.

    With my new laptop (running Windows 10), I can't seem to figure out how to get my previous laptop IE favorites imported. I have tried to import into Firefox, Chrome, IE 11, and Edge. No success.

    Does anyone have any advice on how to import these files?

    Hi David,

    If the steps that you're trying to perform did not push through, we recommend trying the steps below to import Favorites from Internet Explorer:

    • Launch Microsoft Edge.
    • Open Settings located at the top right corner of the window.
    • Select View favorites settings under Favorites.
    • Turn on Show the favorites bar.
    • Check Internet Explorer.
    • Click Import.
