How to Uninstall and Reset Windows Mixed Reality in Windows 10


Mixed reality blends real-world and virtual content into hybrid environments where physical and digital objects coexist and interact.

If Windows Mixed Reality isn't running well, or if you want to free up some disk space, you can uninstall it. This will remove user info and return Windows Mixed Reality to default settings, but preinstalled mixed reality apps will remain on your computer.

This tutorial will show you how to uninstall and reset Windows Mixed Reality to default in Windows 10.



Here's How:

1. Disconnect your headset from your PC's USB 3.0 port and HDMI out port.

2. Close the Mixed Reality Portal app if open.

3. Open Mixed reality icon. (see screenshot below)



4. Click/tap on Uninstall on the left side, and click/tap on the Uninstall button on the right side. (see screenshot below)



5. Click/tap on Next to confirm. (see screenshot below)



6. Click/tap on Restart now to finish. (see screenshot below)



7. The Settings. (see screenshot below)



8. If you want to start using Windows Mixed Reality again in the future, open the Mixed Reality Portal app to set up your Windows Mixed Reality headset.

• Which build and edition of Windows 10 is currently installed on your PC?
• What changes were made to the device before this issue occurred?
• Were you able to use the Bluetooth software before this issue happened?

Opening the windows mixed reality portal freezes my pc

• Are you aware of any changes that happened on the PC prior to this issue?
  

I suggest you to try the methods listed below and check if it works for you:



Method 1

Check for Updates:

One of the possible reasons for Windows Mixed Reality not working correctly is the outdated software. I suggest you to check if there are any pending updates and ensure your Windows 10 is up to date. Refer
Update Windows 10, to know how to check for updates.



Method 2

Update Firmware:

• Right click the Windows icon on the taskbar and choose
  Device Manager.
  
• Expand Mixed Reality Devices, right click the headset device, and choose
  Update Driver.
  
• Restart the machine, and open Mixed Reality portal to see if the issue persists.
  

Method 3

Uninstall and Reinstall Windows Mixed Reality:

• Go to Settings >
  Mixed reality > Uninstall
  and select Uninstall.
  
• Restart your computer. To start the setup process again, just plug your headset into your PC.

Mixed reality portal can not open but headsets working fine

Windows Mixed Reality PC Check. This app is the best way to make sure your PC is ready to run Windows
Mixed Reality. Also, we have to make sure that we are currently using the latest Windows build and version.

Once the required specification met, we suggest to uninstall and re-install the Windows Mixed Reality.

To uninstall:

• Select Start, then click Settings.
• Click Mixed reality, then select Uninstall.

Make sure to disconnect your headset from your PC and close Mixed Reality Portal before uninstalling. To install it, go to Microsoft Store and download the Windows Mixed Reality.
