  1. UWP Apps Encrypted with EFS

I'm trying to edit resource packs for Minecraft Win 10 edition, but the file folder is encrypted. I can access it but I can't modify anything. Moreover, if I move the files to another folder the encryption persists! I've tried decrypting them but to no avail.

    I'm running Windows 10 Pro Version 1903.

    These directories are encrypted:

    G:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-1008724463-506757204-1045507881-1000\AppData\Local\Packages

    G:\WindowsApps

However C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Packages is unencrypted! Any UWP apps installed to the C drive seem to be unencrypted, but all apps on the G drive (external hard drive) are encrypted.

Can anyone help me decrypt these EFS files? I've seen a similar thread but the solution didn't work for me.

    :)

Universal apps cannot access EFS encrypted files?

I have encrypted my Pictures folder using EFS (right-click > Properties > Advanced > "Encrypt (...)").

If I open the Photos app and add the Pictures folder to it, it can't find any picture (it can find the folders, though).

If I open a picture directly from the file explorer with a double-click, the application shows that picture correctly (using the arrow keys to view the other pictures in that folder also works).

The same thing happens in the video player app with the Videos folder encrypted, and possibly in all other UWP applications.

    Any workaround for this?

    And is any fix planned?

Enable or Disable Automatically Encrypt Files Moved to EFS Encrypted Folders in Local Group Policy Editor

How to Enable or Disable Automatically Encrypt Files Moved to EFS Encrypted Folders in Windows

The Encrypting File System (EFS) is the built-in encryption tool in Windows used to encrypt files and folders on NTFS drives to protect them from unwanted access. EFS enables transparent encryption and decryption of files for your user account by using advanced, standard cryptographic algorithms. Any individual or app that doesn't possess the appropriate file encryption key cannot open any encrypted files and folders. Encryption is the strongest protection that Windows provides to help you keep your individual files and folders secure.

Encrypting File System (EFS) is only available in the following editions of Windows:
    • Vista Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise
    • Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, Enterprise
    • Windows 8 Pro and Enterpise
    • Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education
This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable to automatically encrypt files that are moved to an EFS encrypted folder for all users in Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.

*Warning You must be signed in as an administrator to enable or disable automatically encrypt files that are moved to an EFS encrypted folder.

*note This setting applies only to files moved (not copied) within the same volume/partition the encrypted folder is on. When files are moved to other volumes, or if you create a new file in an encrypted folder, File Explorer encrypts those files automatically.
