    A screen saver is a moving picture or pattern that displays on the screen(s) of your PC after you have not been active on the PC for specified period of time to wait. Screen savers were originally used to save older, monochromatic monitors from damage, but now they are mainly a way to personalize your PC or enhance its security by offering password protection.

    Screen Saver Settings allows you to turn on or off screen saver and password protection on resume in Windows.

    This tutorial will show you how to create or download a Screen Saver Settings shortcut for your account in Windows 10.


    CONTENTS:

    OPTION ONE [/i] To Download a Date and Time Shortcut
    1. Click/tap on the Download button below to download the .zip file below.
    Screen_Saver_Settings_shortcut.zip

    Download
    2. Save the .zip file to your desktop.

    3. Unblock the .zip file..

    4. Open the .zip file, and extract (drag and drop) the shortcut to your desktop.

    5. If you like, you can assign a keyboard shortcut to, or move this shortcut to where you like for easy use.

    6. When finished, you can delete the downloaded .zip file if you like.





    OPTION TWO [/i] To Manually Create a Screen Saver Settings Shortcut
    1. Right click or press and hold on an empty area on your desktop, and click/tap on New and Shortcut.

    2. Copy and paste the location below into the location area, and click/tap on Next. (see screenshot below)

    3. Type Screen Saver Settings for the name, and click/tap on the Finish button. (see screenshot below)

    *note You could name this shortcut anything you would like though.

    4. Right click or press and hold on the new Screen Saver Settings shortcut, and click/tap on Properties.

    5. Click/tap on the Shortcut tab, then click/tap on the Change Icon button. (see screenshot below)

    6. In the line under "Look for icons in this file", copy and paste the location below, and press Enter. (see screenshot below)

    7. Select the icon highlighted in blue above, and click/tap on OK. (see screenshot above)

    *note You could use any icon that you would like instead though.

    Here is what I want: Same access / functionality as in Win 8.1. That is:

    • Right-click empty desktop space.
    • Select "Personalize"
    • Get a window with the same screen saver options (turn on / off, select a "screen saver"...) that in Windows 10, Microsoft is forcing me to access through Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Personalization ->Change Screen Saver.
    The Windows 8.1 two-step process was a much more user-friendly "experience" than is the Windows 10 four-step process.

    As per the description, I understand that you want to set icon for screen saver on desktop or taskbar. And you don’t want to access control panel every time.

    I certainly understand your concern and will try my best to help you.

    I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.


    • Go to the folder C:\Windows\System32
      and sort by file type.

    • Look for the screensaver file type (.scr).

    • Find the file scrnsave.scr(you can choose any of the screensavers).

    • Right click and select
      send to>desktop (create shortcut)      .
