How to Change Magnifier Zoom Level Increments in Windows 10


Magnifier is a tool that enlarges partor allof your screen so you can see words and images better. It comes with a few different settings, so use it the way that suits you best.

When you zoom in and zoom out with Magnifier it will change the zoom level in increments of 25%, 50%, 100% (default), 200%, or 400% depending on what you have set.

Starting with Windows 10 build 17643, Microsoft added two new increments to the list: 5% and 10%.

This tutorial will show you how to change the zoom level increments of Magnifier for your account in Windows 10.

OPTION ONE [/i] To Change Magnifier Zoom Level Increments from Settings

*note This option in Settings is only available starting with Windows 10 build 16184.
1. Open Settings, and click/tap on the Ease of Access icon.

2. Click/tap on Magnifier on the left side, and change the Zoom level increments on the right side under Magnifier options to the percentage you want. (see screenshot below)

*note Starting with Windows 10 build 17643, Microsoft added two new increments to the list: 5% and 10%.








OPTION TWO [/i] To Change Magnifier Zoom Level Increments using a REG file

*note The downloadable .reg files below will modify the DWORD value in the registry key below.

ZoomIncrement DWORD value

5 (hex) = 5%
a (hex) = 10%
19 (hex) = 25%
32 (hex) = 50%
64 (hex) = 100% (default)
96 (hex) = 150%
c8 (hex) = 200%
190 (hex) = 400%


1. Do step 2 (5%), step 3 (10%), step 4 (25%), step 5 (50%), step 6 (100%), step 7 (150%), step 8 (200%), or step 9 (400%) below for what you would like to do.


2. To Change Magnifier Zoom Level Increments to 5%

*note This option is only available starting with Windows 10 build 17643.
A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 10 below.

10. Save the .reg file to your desktop.

11. Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.

12. When prompted, click/tap on Run, OK (UAC), Yes, and OK to approve the merge.

13. You can now delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.

Magnifier in Windows 10 -- Can the level of magnification be adjusted?

Hello Gayla,

To set your Magnifier to 125% only, follow these instructions:

• Go to Magnifier.
• Click the Gear icon. It will show you option "Set how much the view changes when zooming in or out." Set it to
  25% then click OK.
• Since the zoom has been set to 25%, start clicking the plus or minus sign until you reach 125%. Changes will only add or reduce 25%.

Random zooming/magnifying Windows 10

Despite following directions, I cannot stop my HP Pavilion x360 from randomly zooming in and magnifying my screen. I've gone to settings,

disabled the magnifier, watched simplistic youtube videos...over and over.

Suggestions? It's driving me nuts.

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

• If you have a mouse with a wheel, hold down the Ctrl key, and then scroll the wheel to zoom in or out.
• From the keyboard, you can increase or decrease the zoom value in 10% increments. To zoom in, press Ctrl + (+). To zoom out, press Ctrl + (-). To restore the zoom to 100%, press Ctrl+0.

Magnifier


Interesting, you have a lot more values in that key than I do. LensHeight was the first on in my list, but Invert was added when I turned on colour inversion. I don't have ZoomIncrement, the zoom level it opens with is the value in Magnification.

I had a look at the same key on a Win7 PC that hadn't used magnifier yet. It didn't exist, but when I used WinKey and + the key was created. It was the same as for Win10 except it was missing RunningState. Also, the magnifier in Win7 behaved exactly the same way as in Win10 - only one press needed, remembering my zoom level and so on.

I haven't found any setting in the Ease of Access Centre that adds any of your values. Do you have Classic Shell or similar installed (I don't) - that may have added the extra values.
